Supreme Law Of The Land Under Attack
There seems to be a constant barrage of attacks against the very core of our national existence; the U.S. Constitution. If it's not being undermined by the Supremes, then it's being attacked by some regulatory agency via McCain-Feingold or some other intrusive bill. And let's not forget the non-stop pummeling by the ACLU.
The disconcerting aspect of these continual attacks and subsequent victories is that the overwhelming majority seem to be unaware (or worse, apathetic) of what the constitution and the Bill of Rights actually have to say about our inherent freedoms. The U.S. Constitution is the central instrument of government and the "supreme law of the land". It is the oldest written Constitution in the world that is in force. It was written in 1787 in Philadelphia by the Continental Congress of the new American republic and was officially adopted in 1789. The objective of the writers was to outline the structure of a new, strong central government after the years of weakness and chaos resulting from the preexisting "Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union" which loosely bound the colonies together since 1778.When the beneficiaries of this document become clueless and unaware of what the constitution says, how can they know when it is being corrupted? That may be happening before our very eyes.
