No inflation?
Leave it to DRUDGE to report the way things really are! Drudge doesn't have a "permalink" as he appears to disdain the blogospere, (where such things are taken for granted) so the headline that appears there now, won't be up for long. He's reporting that oil is at $70, gold at $604 and silver is at $13. No inflation? Come, now!
What about all the prices going up everywhere because of outrageous gas and diesel prices? Everything we use is there because of a truck whose owner is paying $2.75/gallon for diesel and even more in some parts of the country. No inflation?
Last week I paid $84 for two (2) gallons of Benjamin Moore exterior latex paint. Oil-based paint would have been even more. No inflation?
It's a given that consumers are going to start complaining big time over daily price increases at the gas pump. Isn't it about time to start complaining about confiscatory taxes at the pump that need to be slashed.
Here in Dallas, taxes at the pump are in the vicinity of 31 cents/gallon for state and federal taxes. Why can't big gov't make cuts? Everyone else has to!
While we're on the subject of outrageous gas and diesel prices, how many new refineries have been approved to be built in the last 20 years? Have we started drilling in the frozen tundra of Alaska yet?
And why the hell not?
Are politicians so in the pockets of those who profit from gas and oil shortages that they refuse to sanction new exploration and new refinery construction? So what's the problem and why aren't those projects underway?
Summer's coming on and prices will continue to rise. Prices will probably ease down a bit as we near the fall mid-term elections, thanks to the opportunistic incumbants, most of whom care not for the long term good of this country and are only interested in re-election.
