Early Voting in Texas
Yesterday I posted that I was toying with the idea of voting for Kinky Friedman for Governor. Today I voted but I just couldn't vote for anyone who favors tax increases and any number of liberal ideals that just won't work. He's a great guy...I'd love to have a few beers with him sometime or visit his animal rescue ranch near Kerrville, but I just couldn't vote for him.
It's bad enough when republicans lean leftward, and I have major problems with Rick Perry, but I had to hold my nose and vote for the encumbant governor Perry; in fact, I voted straight republican.
Where I voted there was a steady stream of voters which looked to me to be mostly republicans. In the parking lot were lots of "support the troops" stickers/magnets on the trucks and SUVs. There weren't any hybrids, bicycles or "green" bumper stickers on any of the cars I saw, so I surmised there was a preponderance of republicans. Didn't see any Kerry/Edwards stickers either.
Maybe the left's "suppress the vote" campaign isn't going to work. I think there are beaucoup conservatives and republicans who can't wait to vote in this election.
It's going to be an interesting two weeks! Fasten your seat belts.
