Oil Execs Need to Throw it Right Back at Them
Just saw this headline at DRUDGE:..Oil execs to take heat from lawmakers Tuesday. Here's a blurb from the piece:
These guys (the Oil Execs) have unlimited resources to have prepared for them every thing they should ever need to let these arrogant politicians know how the cow ate the cabbage. Wouldn't you love to see these guys lay the blame for high oil prices squarely on the shoulders of those pointing their finger at Big Oil.
Why doesn't Big Oil go to war with Big Govt like Howard Hughes did with Sen. Brewster (so aptly portrayed by Alan Alda in The Aviator (2004)?
Some creative Big Oil exec might expound upon the vast restrictive regulations with which they must comply as well as the many recipes of gas required by the EPA and explain to them why we haven't been allowed to build a gasoline refinery for over 30 years. They might also look into how the various congressmen made their fortunes.
How about the confiscatory taxes Big Oil pays each quarter. We never see or hear about the taxes reaped by greedy Big Govt; we only hear of the profits made by Big Oil. How many times has Big Media reported that Exxon's 2007 tax bill was $30 Billion? I wonder if that will come up tomorrow in the Big Oil excoriations.
Big Oil has a responsibility to take the offensive against the arrogant demagogues in Congress. They can do it much better than Joe Six-Pack. We have to sit back and take it...these guys shouldn't have to!
How dare our elected "officials"(that nomenclature is much too laudatory) put the people who provide our energy under the hot lights and excoriate them for doing the best they can do considering Big Govt works against them at every turn. Shame on the vile politicians...but they have no shame!
One can only wish Big Oil would do their homework on these corrupt politicians who seek to destroy free enterprise, and run massive campaigns against the politicians who are ruining this country with excessive regulations and confiscatory taxation, and expose them for who and what they are...corrupt socialists who are racing headlong to create problems in order to solve them. That's what politicians do.
Unfortunately, politicians are well schooled in creating problems, but they are woefully inept at ever solving them.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Five U.S. oil company executives set to testify on Capitol Hill on Tuesday about soaring gasoline prices and record industry profits will likely offer a common defense: It's not our fault.I can only wish these oil execs would come to Congress as prepared as Howard Hughes was when he appeared before a corrupted Senate Hearing in 1947. Hughes gave them the "what for" and made fools of them, which of course they were.
