A Father in the House
Holidays seem to be a dime a dozen and brought about by mere economics. What would the retail business do without them? Still, there's much to laud about the days we set aside to honor our moms and our dads.
As the son of a remarkable dad, the proud dad of two remarkable kids, one remarkable son-in-law and the husband of wife and mom extraordinaire, I relish Father's Day. How couldn't I?
Father's Day, for me, is a twofer; we were married on Father's Day 34 years ago so this weekend is a time of serious basking in familial reveling. How sweet it is!
Recently my blogging activity has been minimal due to an extremely hectic schedule, but typically my sitemeter hits illogically high numbers this time of year because of a past link to an interesting site with numerous Father's Day quotes. Check it out.
Hopefully Paul Harvey will reprieve his outstanding essay on Fathers this year...if you've never heard or read it, it can be found at the Stray Thoughts blog. Don't miss it! It's a Dad's Day must read.
There's much to be said for Fathers and I'm honored to be honored on this day. I thank God I'm a dad and blessed with such a great family. I thank God for my dad who died some 11 years ago and for my maternal and paternal grand dads and great grand dads. They were all God fearing and God loving people who loved and sacrificed and lived exemplary lives for their families. They'll never be forgotten.
There's a fitting Born To Win program airing this weekend titled A Father in the House which can be heard by clicking the link and then clicking on the title of the program...or, just scroll down to the Born To Win icon on this blog and listen there.
If you're a dad, I hope you have a terrific Father's Day!
