Alexis de Tocqueville Quote of the Day

Alexis de Tocqueville knew people and politics. He greatly admired what America represented and he knew what would happen to this once great nation when we strayed from the values that made us great. One quote can never capture all of his great wisdom but one quote can spur thought.

Behold de Tocqueville's quote and think:

Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude.

Kind of makes you ponder what's going on right here and now, doesn't it?
