Who Do You Want in Your Foxhole?

There's a terrific piece out there written by Col. Oliver North. It's an open letter to Sen. John Kerry which asks him a few basic questions that demand answers. North's challenge, Bring it on, John, spells it out in unmistakeable terms.

So after reading Ollie's piece and what you know about Kerry, who of the two would you want in your foxhole? Sounds like an appropriate bumper sticker to me and it's even non-partisan! Both parties could use it!

Kerry or Bush...Who would you want in your foxhole?

Much to the chagrin of the DNC, there are probably vast numbers of dems who wouldn't want Kerry in their foxhole either.

Quote for the Weekend

"And so now we have the present mess that will go on for weeks and can only hurt Kerry. He is earning a reputation for once welcoming third-party hit ads, then (now) whining about them; for parading his service, then whining about scrutiny of it; for spouting braggadocio, then whining about hurtful speech. As the Greeks remind us, pride can lead to hubris and then to Nemesis — on its tragic and ultimate rendezvous with ruin."

Ben Stein's Last Column

Monday Night at Morton's is the title of Ben Stein's last column which he has done for the last 7 years or so for E Online. It's one of his best! A must read!

When False Accusations Fail, Trash Them!

Remember the 900 missing FBI files which 'occurred' early on in the Clinton years? (http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a388825e95e8e.htm) More than just a few members of the VRWC* speculated that the files may have been used to blackmail key figures on either side of the isle for whatever reason. And just for safety's sake, if the FBI files were insufficient, the Clintons were purported to have hired many a powerful private investigator to dig up dirt on their rascally opponants in order to trash them. But surely those tales are mythical because of the unequivocal integrity the Clintons and their minions of spokespeople to this very day continue to exhibit.

Typically, the Kerry people are scurrying around trying to find dirt on some of the Swift Boat Vets.

Democratic operatives reportedly are working feverishly to compile incriminating dossiers on members of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth who have publicly opposed John Kerry's candidacy. According to a report in the New York Daily News, one of the targets is veteran James Zumwalt, son of illustrious Adm. Elmo Zumwalt.

The paper says it has received part of the dossier on Zumwalt, which claims he "attempted to kill himself with an overdose of prescription drugs," after the murder of his ex-wife's fiance, John Kowalczyk, and was "convicted of reckless driving after chasing Kowalczyk at a high speed on the highway."

Zumwalt was one of the veterans who signed an initial letter opposing Kerry in May.

Since the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth television ads – which slam the Democrat's veracity and integrity – began running in battleground states, the Kerry campaign has tried a variety of techniques to combat them. The group's contentions about Kerry's service in Vietnam are documented in the blockbuster book "Unfit for Command," which now tops most national sales charts
(http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/printer-friendly.asp?ARTICLE_ID=40148)

Is this not the piece de resistance? Kerry can't refute the charges and his false accustions haven't worked, so all he can do now is trash them (and implore President Bush to make them stop, which, incidentally is reminiscent of how France and Kerry's vaunted UN would handle similar adversities). These vets have faced far worse than Kerry's dirt flinging hirelings can toss about. Kerry's loud blanks won't phase these guys. They've already experienced the post war nightmares. Kerry's nightmares have only just begun.

Go Ask Alice

Ya gotta love Alice Cooper. Especially if you're sick of presumptuous court jesters, er, arrogant entertainers who actually think we care what their political views are. Here's what Alice has to say about the matter:

If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we're morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit around reading the Washington Journal."

"Besides," he continued, "when I read the list of people who are supporting Kerry, if I wasn't already a Bush supporter, I would have immediately switched. Linda Ronstadt? Don Henley? Geez, that's a good reason right there to vote for Bush."

I've never been a big Alice Cooper fan, musically speaking, but having seen him on several occasions in his hometown of Phoenix actively involved in local and national charities, I have alot of respect for his civic involvement and his business accomplishments. Alice is real popular in Phoenix aside from his musical endeavors. I suspect he will gain even wider popularity for speaking out about the onstage political antics of his cohorts.

Check out the article on Alice.

Muddying the Water

When you know you're in the wrong, the best thing you can do is muddy the water. How, you ask? Bury everyone with information. This is Clinton Modus Operandi 101. Make it next to impossible or extremely tedious to get to the truth. Inundate them with information; misinformation, disinformation, new information, old information, superfluous information, and it won't be long before people become apathetic to any given situation. Unless, of course, the story refuses to go away.

Sen. John Kerry, the presumptive democrat presidential candidate, could make this growing SwiftBoat story go away immediately if, in fact, he has told the truth about his 4 months in Vietnam. All he has to do is release his military records...poooof! The burgeoning problem is gone! So why doesn't he? Isn't it all too obvious?

The water needn't be so muddy, and, in truth it isn't if you just ask a few simple questions:

1)Did Kerry commit war crimes in Vietnam? If so, he is a war criminal and unfit to become even mayor of Hoboken, NJ (well, maybe that's an exaggeration!) much less president of the United States. If not, he is a liar because he has admitted to them time and time again.

2)Did Kerry get his medals/ribbons honorably? Yes or no! This problem can easily be solved by releasing military records. Those basic questions demand answers, not a battery of attorneys threatening to sue everyone who utters anything embarrassing for the Kerry people. But as long as the attorneys are making threats, why don't they sue John O'Neill, author of "Unfit to Command"? Mr. O'Neill is inviting it. Wouldn't that definitively answer these questions?

How Kerry is handling this matter is what people need to be taking note of. He doesn't like what 260 veterans are saying about him and instead of refuting them, he enlists attorneys to shut them up and quell any publicity they may receive. If elected, will he attempt to silence his critics with the help of the Attorney General, FBI, CIA and every other agency at his disposal? Is THAT the kind of man we want as president...one who eschews our precious freedom of speech?

This a deepening, widening, ever more expansive problem for the Kerry camp and it's becoming more and more difficult for allegedly objective mainstream media types to cover up for Kerry's ineptitude and apparent dishonesty. What are the democrats to do? Don't you wish you were a fly on the wall of Hillary's War Room? Neither do I.

More Coddling

When it comes to correcting papers and grading tests, purple is emerging as the new red.

"If you see a whole paper of red, it looks pretty frightening," said Sharon Carlson, a health and physical education teacher at John F. Kennedy Middle School in Northampton. "Purple stands out, but it doesn't look as scary as red."

That's the cue pen makers and office supply superstores say they have gotten from teachers as the $15 billion back-to-school retail season kicks off. They say focus groups and conversations with teachers have led them to conclude that a growing number of the nation's educators are switching to purple, a color they perceive as "friendlier" than red.(See link...
http://www.boston.com/news/education/k_12/articles
/2004/08/23/harshness_of_red_marks_has_students_
seeing_purple?mode=PF)

What's next for the victims of public education? Blinders that shield them from the world apart from the indoctrination centers? Puhhhhleeaase!!!!! Will the educrats ever get it? or do they even want to?

Red is scary!

To be sure, red has always been used to alert people. Red stop lights, stop signs, the Red Chinese....red alerts of every kind exist as a warning. Red marks on school assignments are warnings so that the student can know where he needs further study. When you make errors, they need to be corrected and if they're not corrected, then the student may fail. That's pretty scary so what's the problem?

I guess it all goes back to hurting the tender feelings of our frail youth. Which is why public education is failing us. Good feelings and self-esteem apparently have won out as the prime objective of so-called educators. It's not the fault of teachers. Their hands are tied by politically correct administrators who subscribe to the humanistic secular moral relativism wherein everything is acceptable but morality.

Surely the left leaning acedemicians who seek to mold the vacuous 'skulls full of mush' into mind numbed robots of their own creation wouldn't seek to steer their subjects away from the politics of the unenlightened 'red states'. Hmmmmmm...no wonder the color red is so alarming to them.

Pomp and Circumstance

With few exceptions, my life has been bereft of pomp and circumstance. Tonite was one of those exceptions. We were able to attend the Ninetieth Annual Opening Convocation for Freshmen and Transfer students at Southern Methodist University here in Dallas. This ceremony was like a 'prequel' to graduation. All incoming students traditionally walk/pass through Dallas Hall, SMU's grand landmark hall as if to officially arrive on campus. The procession heads to the locally famous McFarland Memorial Auditorium for the formal welcoming convocation ceremonies.

A formal welcome and initiation ceremoniously illustrated the rare opportunity these new students have at their disposal as a result of their achievements up to now. They've earned the opportunity to be at SMU and they would need to continue to achieve in order to stay and excel. Faculty members and Department Heads dressed in full traditional graduation regalia lent to the pomp. Fanfares served to introduce various stages of the program. It was a good ceremony. If it served to inspire the newby students to take their educational opportunities seriously, then it was time well spent. An excellent quote was printed in the program:

There must be a beginning of any great matter, but the continuing unto the end until it be thoroughly finished yields the true glory.
.....Sir Francis Drake, 1587

We were honored to be able to attend this event at SMU tonite because our daughter was accepted as a transfer student with the help of a generous academic scholarship. What makes it even sweeter for us is that she was home schooled by her mom. Mega-congratulations, Sweetie for making the grade! And Thank you to my wife for her incredible contribution to our kids' education!

How Would Jesus Vote ?

This is a popular question posed by religionists who correctly assume that Jesus is neither democrat nor republican. Which, it is extrapolated, illustrates why Christians shouldn't vote or be involved in politics. Huh? We could ask any number of similar implausible questions regarding Jesus' would be behavior or purchasing habits. What kind of car, what brand of sneakers, what kind of breakfast cereal.......blah blah blah. These are irrelevant questions to pose to a Diety who is above all this. But that's not to say that the future King of kings is apolitical. Anything but.

Jesus wasn't silent on politics in his lifetime. He was quite vocal! He excoriated the hypocritical Jewish hierarchy(the lawmakers of his time) in Jerusalem to the point that they sought to murder him. These were religious leaders but they were as political as they could be. And Jesus involved himself by publically condemning their acts of hypocrisy. Could one really argue that Jesus was politically neutral in these matters?

Jesus didn't participate in the state politics of his time because it wasn't his time to participate in them. Nor did Jesus and his disciples ever have the opportunity to vote for their favorite Roman dictator. Imagine if they WOULD have had that opportunity to choose between a dictator who really got off impaling Christians and another dictator somewhat more benevolent, I think they may have 'campaigned' against the impaler. That's just a hunch.

When we have the opportunity to vote for(or against) those who govern over us and we don't, do we just claim it was Jesus' will that some tyrant govern over us?

I have a far more compelling question for religionists and apolitical church leaders...which church would Jesus attend?

So Long, Uncle Walter!

Out of pure exasperation caused by inane and mindless bloggers like me, and the New Media in general, I'm guessing, Uncle Walter Cronkite announced today that he is hanging it up; throwing the yellow pad away and turning off his computer (http://www.reuters.com/printerFriendlyPopup.jhtml?type=peopleNews&storyID=5989657) never to write again! Thanks, Mr. Cronkite, for finally retiring. It's about time your replacement retired as well, but I digress.

How appropriate that he would retire on the very day I take up blogging. My little contribution to the new media here is likely to run the gamut of my vast store of knowledge on any given day wherein my knowledge build-up reaches toxic levels and screams out for release. Today isn't one of those days, but it's a start!
