Christian Responsibility in Elections
Charles Grandison Finney (1792-1875) was a Presbyterian minister and influential leader in America's Second Great Awakening. He was known as the Father of Modern Revivalism. That being the case, he thought it was incumbent upon Christians to responsibly vote for the best possible people:Or don't do, as the case may be.
"The time has come that Christians must vote for honest men and take consistent ground in politics...God cannot sustain this free and blessed country which we love and pray for unless the Church will take right ground...It seems sometimes as if the foundations of the nation are becoming rotten, and Christians seem to act as if they think God does not see what they do in politics."
