Knee Jerks
Overheard somewhere:
It's time for everyone to sit back and relax. Whenever you see something on TV, hear something on the radio, get unduly spammed or when your college professor dares to state an unpopular opinion, count to 10 before calling the neighborhood government agency. If something offends you on the airwaves, turn it off! If something offends you ANYwhere, so what? Who gave you the right to not be offended, the ACLU? If someone says something 'hurtful' on what grounds are you allowed to sue? Is this what international law hath wrought on our judiciary?
Get a grip, people. We used to be the land of the free and home of the brave! Are we becoming the land of the hurt and offended? What could be more pitiful than a country full of offended whiners?
Time for everyone to grow up and stop empowering those who 'hurt your feelings'. And stop running to the ACLU or nanny government to solve your real or imagined problems.
And if I may, I would like to encourage my Christian brethren and sistren to be more of a shining light on a hill instead of a glaring searchlight.
The only thing worse than a knee jerk liberal is a knee jerk conservative.Maybe it all started with the wardrobe malfunction and maybe it has something to do with the fallacy that we have a right to not be offended. Maybe there are those on the religious right who now think everything wrong needs to be 'righted'. Maybe there are those on the left who insist on special rights for every special interest group who meet in a phone booth. Whatever is going on is only encouraging those in favor of 'nanny government' and 'nanny government' is a bad thing for everyone, regardless of your special interests.
