The 17-year-old Irving High School senior took no day for granted. He wasn't afraid to live and he wasn't afraid to die, said his father, Brad Luddeke.
"He told me last week, 'Dad, if it [death] happens, it happens. I've lived my life the way I've wanted to.' "
Wednesday, Jordan was killed after his Ford pickup blew its left rear tire and ran into a concrete support on State Highway 360 in Fort Worth. Jordan, who lived in Grand Prairie, was on his way to work at Finish Line Sports Cards in Irving.
Mr. Luddeke, a volunteer firefighter for Grand Prairie, was among the first on the scene.
"I got to hold him and to say goodbye," said Mr. Luddeke. "I was there. I loved my son."
Another son, Justin, also went to the scene after learning of the accident.
"I deal with disaster all the time," Mr. Luddeke said. "But until it's your son, it doesn't hurt like it hurts now."
Police said Jordan was driving north on Highway 360 around 3 p.m. "His truck went into a slide and struck the bridge support," said Fort Worth police Sgt. Don Hanlon.
No one else was injured.
Friends will gather at Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving on Friday to remember Jordan, his father said.
