Ken Lay guilty! How about leaving God out of it?
I haven't really been too interested in this story for one reason or another. It did catch my attention today when Ken Lay was found guilty and started talking about God's plan for him.
Excuse me, but, as a Christian, I take exception to that.
I don't have a clue if Lay is guilty or innocent, but bringing Jesus Christ into the picture, moments after he was convicted of fraud and conspiracy, showed, if nothing else, extremely bad judgment. If he truly loves God and espouses Christianity, then he should publicly separate himself from his faith for the sake of his faith.
Instead, he invoked the name of his God and thereby, in my opinion, tarnished his faith, and God by closely associating himself with Him.
Privately he needs God and Christ more than ever; publicly he needs to disassociate himself from God. He's a pariah right now, and maybe unjustly so, but associating himself with God and Christ at this time and place is unsavory at the very least and certainly not very convincing.
On a related subject...have you ever seen cars or business cards with Christian symbols on them and then seen the occupants or business owners act like jerks? We've ALL seen that. What kind of witness to mankind is that kind of behavior.
Likewise, what kind of witness has Ken Lay been to mankind. If he appeals and is found not guilty, then fine, but in the meantime, how about leaving the good names of God and Jesus Christ out of your public life for awhile.
