UN peacekeepers abandoned babies

The culture of corruption and cover-up continues over at Turtle Bay. One scandal barely ends before another, more disgusting one raises its ugly head. Most recently, The Australian reports about UN peacekeepers who abandoned babies out of embarrassment. The real news here is that there is still someone at the U.N. who actually exhibits a bit of shame and embarrassment. Here's the brief story:

"UN peacekeepers have abandoned at least 20 babies fathered with poverty-stricken Timorese women, an investigation has shown.

The UN investigation has also uncovered a culture of cover-up, in which babies born to peacekeepers and sex crimes committed by its personnel over seven years have been kept secret because of a 'fear of shame and embarrassment'.
A report on the investigation recommends that a policy of zero tolerance of sexual misconduct be enforced on UN staff. The report reveals for the first time babies born to UN peacekeepers have been abandoned without financial support. Their mothers have been stigmatised and in some cases ostracised by their communities. Efforts by the UN to organise assistance for the women have failed."

So what will become of this? Absolutely nothing! These bastards are above the law, answering to no one. If they can get away with the "oil for food" heist amounting to billions of dollars, and the ongoing sexual abuse of underaged girls wherever "piecekeepers" stake their claim, why should anyone believe that a few bothery babies left behind by opportunistic perverted pedophiles will matter to anyone, least of all the vaunted Secretary-General Kofi Annan, who, did I mention, answers to no one, while he depends on our billions of taxpayer dollars to continue the debauchery?
