Meet Tanya Monalisa Pinto
My daughter Chelsea is interning this summer at The Richards Group and while working there she's had the opportunity to work with Tanya Pinto, founder of the Baal Dan project.
Baal Dan is an organization which helps deserving children in India. Ms. Pinto formed this foundation after having served at Mother Teresa's orphanage:
I started Baal Dan after volunteering at Mother Teresa's orphanage in Calcutta. I saw many children, even babies, who lived on the streets. Begging, sleeping on pavements, foraging through trash looking for things to play with.
I was surprised at how these little street urchins were so playful even though they live in extreme poverty.
Did you know that $1 = 43 rupees?
That's enough to buy a meal. A book. A toy.
We can leverage the power of our dollar to give these children simple things to make their lives easier and give them more of a childhood.
I started Baal Dan to help children on the streets. I will fund all expenses myself, and 100% of all donations will go directly to the children. Donors will receive an email detailing exactly how their donation helped a child. Please help me to make a difference in even one child's life.
Thank you,
Tanya Monalisa Pinto, Founder
Ms. Pinto is an extremely giving and altruistic individual and isn't in this for the money or recognition. It's a pleasure for me to link the Baal Dan foundation under my "worthy causes" blogroll on the lower right side of this blog.
Please visit her website and see her slideshow of the kids she's personally helping. If you can afford to send her a donation, I promise it will be used wisely. Thanks!`
