Must See TV

Be sure to visit the Stop The ACLU blog to see the amazing You Tube video, Life Without Limbs , which highlights the inspiring life of Nick Vujicic, a remarkable 23 year old who was born without arms or legs. It's incredibly inspiring! Just 6 minutes in length.

It's not a downer; it's an uplifting must see!

What's up with this?

Congressmen who visit the U.S.-Mexico border unannounced are being monitored by the Department of Homeland Security. Huh? Let me get this straight...United States Congressmen are being MONITORED if they show up at the border to see what the hell's going on! Hello....how many things are wrong with this picture?!

Congressmen who visit the U.S.-Mexico border unannounced are being monitored by the Department of Homeland Security, and at least one U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent has been suspended for speaking to a congressman without first getting supervisory clearance, according to documents obtained by the Daily Bulletin.
Congressional representatives interviewed by the Daily Bulletin said they were unaware until recently that Border Patrol agents were required to file Significant Incident Reports -- normally used for shootings and other serious border incidents --when congressional representatives made unannounced visits this summer along the U.S.-Mexico border.

A second document obtained by the paper reveals that one agent was suspended for 10 days without pay for speaking with Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, who made an unannounced visit to the border in May.

'Preventing Congress from speaking freely to federal employees violates at least two federal statutes, and agents are fearful of telling the truth,' said King, who recounted several visits to the Mexican border when Border Patrol agents would not speak with him for fear of reprisal.

'Filing these reports is a form of intimidation. If anyone is going to be punished, then they should be punished for not speaking to a member of Congress, rather than for telling the truth.'

Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas, who also has made unannounced visits to the border, said he is concerned congressional oversight of border matters has suffered as a result of the Homeland Security monitoring. Poe echoed King's assertion that forcing agents to file reports is a form of intimidation, and said Congress is prepared to call for hearings and issue subpoenas to investigate the matter.

'Members of Congress should not be under surveillance by Homeland Security because we ask the tough questions (of) border agents, and border agents should not be intimidated into having to report our visits and conversations with them like we are criminals," Poe said. "Members of Congress are not the enemy because we want to find out the truth at the border.'
How telling is this? What is it going to take before weak, no, corrupt, lying, deceitful politicians own up to the fact that they have no intention of securing our borders? And when are Americans going to wake up to the fact that if we don't have secure borders, we don't have a secure country?

This isn't a dem/rep problem; it's a monumental failure of everyone in any official capacity who has the power to uphold the rule of EXISTING law! It could start with sheriffs, mayors, county commissioners, state reps, governors, U.S. Reps, U.S. Senators, and finally, the President.

Why aren't our borders secure and what is it going to take for the people to rise up and make basic DEMANDS that we have secure borders?

"O' Thank Heaven for 7-Eleven"

Hats off to the Dallas based Southland Corporation, parent company of 7-Eleven, for basically flipping the bird to Venezuelan dictator thug, Hugo Chavez. No longer will 7-Eleven be buying their gasoline from the unsavory communist who assumed control of Citgo when he was "elected" dictator, er, president for life.

Be sure to spend some money there and thank them for telling this guy where to go.

You can wag your finger, but you can't change history!

Hat tip to Lucianne.com for this priceless editorial cartoon. You just can't revise a legacy that's already been written. Do we really want to put these people back in the Whitehouse?

What Happens in November Matters

The following piece is an exclusive from Brian Knowles, who, although I've never met, I consider to be a friend. Actually he's married to the mother of one of my very best friends from high school. I happened to mention to my friend earlier this week to convey a message to Brian and that I would love to have him do a piece for my blog if it were only worthy (my blog, that is!). Well, this blog isn't yet worthy of his writing prowess, but he sent me the following piece this afternoon to do with as I wish; and I couldn't be more pleased to post it in toto. He titled it, What Happens in November Matters. Read and learn:

From a sensible point of view, it doesn’t matter whether an idea emanates from the left or right side of the political spectrum. What does matter is: Is it a good idea? Did it work? What kind of results did it produce? Was it cost effective? Did it solve a problem, or make it worse? Ideas do have consequences, and we need to keep track of them.

Let’s get another thing straight: It doesn’t matter what any politician says. Politician’s words are as cheap as human life in Iraq. Politicians will promise you the moon with chocolate coating on it if you’ll give them your vote. Once in power, they have a way of becoming entrenched, and forgetting all about what they said to get elected. If a politician doesn’t do what he said he’d do, he should be thrown out of office. Problem is, by the time he or she is up for reelection, nobody remembers his or her campaign promises. Politicians count on that.

Politicians have a way of fogging up the atmosphere with a combination of hot air and methane. They are not there to solve problems – they are there to promise to solve problems. Not long ago, I heard a well-known Democrat say, “After all, in politics its perception that counts.” Politicians work hard at creating the perception that they’re good for the country, even when they’re not. They seek as much “face time” on television as possible. As a given politician reaches reelection time, review his promises, check his track record, and decide, on that basis, whether he’s worth putting back in office. Simple, right? Problem is, almost nobody does it.

People often vote for people they know nothing about. They may like the candidate’s face, or his name, or his ethnicity. Sometimes it’s just a matter of being better known than his competitors. We vote for familiar names. None of these are valid reasons for voting for someone.

The kind of people we put in office, or remove from office in November, will go a long way to determining the future course of this country, and of our states. Much is at stake. Those of us who are privileged to vote ought to take our vote seriously. We need to do our homework. Keep tabs on your politician’s track records. What did they vote for, what did they vote against? Forget what they have said; it means nothing.

Charles Peters put it this way: “In Washington bureaucrats confer, the president proclaims, and Congress legislates, but the effect on reality is negligible if evident at all. The nation’s problems don’t disappear, and all the activity that is supposedly dedicated to their solution turns out to be make-believe” (How Washington Really Works by Charles Peters, p. 3).

Vote for politicians who have made a concrete, positive effect on reality. Return to office those candidates who did what they said they’d do the first time they were elected. Make elected office a meritocracy, not a cash cow for career politicians.
Don’t allow the ideologically-driven Press and Media influence your voting decision. Ferret out the verifiable facts, and only the facts. Forget contrived perceptions; focus on reality.

Ask hard questions like: who will make the country safer for its citizens, and who will not? Who will seal the borders, and who will just talk about sealing the borders without actually doing it? Who will fight to win against terrorism, and who will merely do a lot of politically correct posturing? Who will get rid of the odious, immoral death tax (estate tax) and who will vote to keep it? Who will get out-of-control spending under control, and who will not?

Who will put justices on Supreme Court who take the Constitution seriously, and who will nominate those who see it as a “living document” subject to creative interpretation based on international considerations?

Which politicians have the guts to take on organized crime, drugs, vice, identity theft, elder abuse, serious prison reform, federal sentencing guidelines and other crucial issues?

Who will best respond to the threats of natural disasters and terrorism? We the people must demand results, not a superfluity of hot air. I know some of these problems seem intractable. Yet all have solutions if politicians have the political will to seek and implement them. What would you do if you had to face the nightmarish issues of Social Security and Medicare payments in the face of an aging population? Demographic trends alone are enough to give any politician a mental hernia.

What kind of man, or woman (?), do you think could best take on the world’s monsters and barbarians? Who could face down an Ahmadinejad, Chavez, or a Kim Jong Il?

Who is willing to lead the drive to eliminate America’s dependence upon foreign oil?
This is a time in American history when we need giants in Washington, not hard-drinking, red-faced, leftist windbags who offer no answers -- only vicious attacks on our President. We need people of courage, vision and wisdom. The very existence of this grand and glorious nation hangs in the balance. Your vote in November and in two years from now means more than ever. Use it wisely.

- Brian Knowles

I can't thank you enough, Brian! I hope this won't be your last post here. Thanks so much.

Sometime soon, we'll need to apologize to the "whacked out conspiratorialists"

According to WorldNetDaily, students in at least 10 universities are being trained for a three country "merger" in North America. Hmmm...I wonder if that could be the reason the Bush administration has been reluctant to secure our borders.

Those poor conspiratorial folks who are in a constant state of marginalization and demonization by virtually everyone may be on to something. They've been telling us for years that "the powers that be" want to merge Mexico, Canada and the United States into one North American Community. At some point, we're going to have to apologize for collectively scoffing at them for, lo, these many years.

Here's a couple of illuminating paragraphs:
WASHINGTON – In another example of the way the three nations of North America are being drawn into a federation, or "merger," students from 10 universities in the U.S., Mexico and Canada are participating annually in a simulated "model Parliament."

Under the sponsorship of the Canadian based North American Forum on Integration, students met in the Mexican Senate for five days in May in an event dubbed "Triumvirate," with organizers declaring "A North American Parliament is born."

A similar event took place in the Canadian Senate in 2005.

The intentions of organizers are clear.

"The creation of a North American parliament, such as the one being simulated by these young people, should be considered," explained Raymond Chretien, the president of the Triumvirate and the former Canadian ambassador to both Mexico and the U.S.

Participants discuss draft bills on trade corridors, immigration, provisions of the North American Free Trade Agreement and produce a daily newspaper called "The TrilatHerald."

Please read the rest of the piece...and get your apology ready.

A Religion Above Criticism

You can always count on Cox & Forkum to tell it like it really is. Poor Phil...he dared to actually criticize the "religion of peace." Be sure to go to the C & F site for more details.

The Pope must die, says Muslim

OK, appeasers, accomodators, passivists and sleepy Christians; are you beginning to wake up when you see that Islamofascists are proclaiming the The Pope must die? Or do we just need to have a better understanding of the "Religion of Peace?" Do my words scare you? Are you hoping the Islamoterrorists will realize that you are an open minded, tolerant, egalitarian progressive who religiously believes in moral equivalence? Is that what you believe?

If so, you're a foolhardy useful idiot who will be among the very first to be executed for your lack of substance and unwillingness to stand for anything. Because you stand for everything, you stand for nothing! Wake up you sleepy dolts! This is a cultural clash from without (the Islamofacists abroad) and from within (the whacked out left wing who, more often than not, side with the enemy and whatever Islamofacist cells who may be hiding among us).

What is it going to take to awake and unite us?

Secret CIA Torture Techniques Leaked

Thanks to Jay at the Stop The ACLU Blog for exposing the "outrageous" torture techniques of the CIA:"

Details emerged yesterday about the seven interrogation techniques the CIA is seeking to be allowed to apply to terror suspects. Newsweek magazine reported that a New York lawyer, Scott Horton, who has acted as an adviser to the US senate on interrogation methods, had acquired a list of the techniques. The details were corroborated by information obtained by the charity Human Rights Watch.
The techniques sought by the CIA are: induced hypothermia; forcing suspects to stand for prolonged periods; sleep deprivation; a technique called 'the attention grab' where a suspect's shirt is forcefully seized; the 'attention slap' or open hand slapping that hurts but does not lead to physical damage; the 'belly slap'; and sound and light manipulation.

Un-fricking-believable that there are those in large numbers who regard this child's play as "torture!" Remember the "horrors" of Abu Graibe? They're still losing sleep over that!

How on earth can we defeat evil when "do-gooders" seek to give our enemies constitutional rights? How can we win a war against radical Islamofascists, who want us dead, when ACLU attorneys and internationalist politicians such as McCain, Graham, Warner and Collins (and all the democrats) aid and abet the enemy by seeking to give them rights?

Maybe they don't want us to defeat them. Their actions indicate that they want us to be defeated!

Those who wish to tie the hands of our interrogators are making the outrageous claim that we fall into the same category as the throat cutting Islamofascist cowards . It's the same old moral equivalence falderal that besets the politically correct mindset in Washington D.C. and academia across the fruited plain. It's an intellectually dishonest, bogus mindset that doesn't make it when challenged on it's merits.

Be sure to go to the Stop The ACLU Blog for the whole story!

We just can't continue to allow this contrarian behavior to continue! Do your representatives know how you think about these subversive translations of International law?

Big Brother: watching AND barking out orders!

No doubt this will be coming to a street corner near you real soon. The cameras are already there...just look up once in a while. Our British brothers are not only being watched, but their big gov't is shouting out orders to law breaking Brits:
Big Brother is not only watching you - now he's barking orders too. Britain's first 'talking' CCTV cameras have arrived, publicly berating bad behavior and shaming offenders into acting more responsibly.

The system allows control room operators who spot any anti-social acts - from dropping litter to late-night brawls - to send out a verbal warning: 'We are watching you'.

Middlesbrough has fitted loudspeakers on seven of its 158 cameras in an experiment already being hailed as a success. Jack Bonner, who manages the system, said: 'It is one hell of a deterrent. It's one thing to know that there are CCTV cameras about, but it's quite another when they loudly point out what you have just done wrong.
How quaint! I'm sure these loudspeakers will be quite effective when irate radicals hit the streets protesting 14th century emperors.

An Isolated Incident?

An AP story reports that an Italian nun has been shot to death by Somali (Islamofascists?) gunmen:
Sister Leonella, 65, was shot in the back four times by pistol-wielding attackers as she left the Austrian-run S.O.S. hospital at lunch time after finishing nursing school for trainee medics. Her bodyguard was also slain.

There was no claim of responsibility for the attack, which came just hours after a leading Somali cleric condemned the pope's remarks last week on Islam and violence.

The head of security for the Islamic militia that controls much of southern Somalia, Yusuf Mohamed Siad, said one man had been arrested and the second was being hunted. He said the killing might have stemmed from the uproar over the pope but stressed he didn't know for sure.

"They could be people annoyed by the pope's speech, which angered all Muslims in the world, or they could have been having something to do with S.O.S.," he said. "We will have to clarify this through our investigation."

What the Pope said...

Before long, the entire world is going to get seriously sidetracked by the radical Islamists and completely forget what the Pope actually said. It's not what he said but what some 14th century Byzantine Emperor said. According to the International Herald Tribune, here's the background AND the Pope's money quote:
The pope made his remarks on Islam during a speech Tuesday in Germany in which he quoted from a book recounting a conversation between 14th century Byzantine Christian Emperor Manuel Paleologos II and an educated Persian on the truths of Christianity and Islam.

"The emperor comes to speak about the issue of jihad, holy war," the pope said.

"He said, I quote, 'Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached,'" he quoted the emperor as saying.

Benedict made it clear he was quoting someone else's words and did not specify whether he agreed with them, but called them "brusque." The Vatican said Thursday night that the pope did not intend to offend Muslim sensibilities.
What can even be said about this whole situation without stating the obvious. Ok, I'll state it...the reaction to the quote by the radical Islamists exemplifies its veracity!

That being a given, how in the world can the Pope apologize for saying it? Does he apologize for the 14th century emperor? And what could he ever say to appease these irrational radicals?

The fact is they are constantly looking for a reason to kill anyone who isn't whacked out like they are. When is the world going to wake up to that realization?

Celebrate Constitution Day

Thanks to Musing Minds for reminding us that today, September 17, is Constitution Day, the day the delegates gathered to sign the newly created document:
On September 17, 1787, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time to sign the document they had created. The National Archives and Records Administration celebrates this important day in our nation's history by presenting the following activities, lesson plans, and information. We encourage teachers and students at all levels to learn more about our Constitution and government.
What better way to celebrate than to review the our beloved Constitution and Bill of Rights.

This Day in History catalogs some of the specifics of the day:
On September 17, 1787, the Constitution was signed. As dictated by Article VII, the document would not become binding until it was ratified by nine of the 13 states. Beginning on December 7, five states--Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, and Connecticut--ratified it in quick succession. However, other states, especially Massachusetts, opposed the document, as it failed to reserve undelegated powers to the states and lacked constitutional protection of basic political rights, such as freedom of speech, religion, and the press. In February 1788, a compromise was reached under which Massachusetts and other states would agree to ratify the document with the assurance that amendments would be immediately proposed. The Constitution was thus narrowly ratified in Massachusetts, followed by Maryland and South Carolina. On June 21, 1788, New Hampshire became the ninth state to ratify the document, and it was subsequently agreed that government under the U.S. Constitution would begin on March 4, 1789. In June, Virginia ratified the Constitution, followed by New York in July.

On September 25, 1789, the first Congress of the United States adopted 12 amendments to the U.S. Constitution--the Bill of Rights--and sent them to the states for ratification. Ten of these amendments were ratified in 1791. In November 1789, North Carolina became the 12th state to ratify the U.S. Constitution. Rhode Island, which opposed federal control of currency and was critical of compromise on the issue of slavery, resisted ratifying the Constitution until the U.S. government threatened to sever commercial relations with the state. On May 29, 1790, Rhode Island voted by two votes to ratify the document, and the last of the original 13 colonies joined the United States. Today, the U.S. Constitution is the oldest written constitution in operation in the world.
I wonder how many schools reminded their students about the significance of Constitution Day. Maybe there will be "Constitution Day" sales today at all the malls. Ya reckon?

Residents of Abu Graibe really miss American management

My blogging buddy, Curt, over at Flopping Aces posted this great piece to remind us that whatever we did at Abu Graibe to the prisoners there was Romper Room compared to anywhere else they may have ended up; like Abu Graibe today under Iraqi management.

The terrorists who find themselves in Abu Graibe these days are wishing and crying aloud for the Americans to return, presumably so they can partake in our brand of "torture" compared to what they are having to endure under the present Iraqi management.

Gone are the days that terrorists are "subjected" to wearing women's underwear on their heads or be barked at by scary guard dogs. Nor will they ever have to participate in nude pyramids. There were a whole host of tyrannical hazing techniques that our torture specialists engineered at Abu Graibe, but alas, the Iraqis are now in charge and they aren't nearly as playful as some of our former prison guards.
Will we hear the MSM's caterwauling and complaints of Amnesty International now that we are no longer in charge over there? Of course not. It doesn't fit the MSM left-wing template of "America sucks." It doesn't matter what anyone else does in their prisons because it doesn't have any effect on the Bush administration.

Be sure to go to Flopping Aces and see what all is going on over there. They miss us; they really miss us!

Clinton vs. Gore?

Patrick J. Buchanan is saying in his most recent WorldNetDaily column that Algore could actually beat Hillary in the democrat presidential primaries.

Isn't life grand?

"...he didn't bother watching the movie that angered so many people..." (in the Clinton camp)

You can almost see him shaking his finger insisting he didn't watch "that movie, the Path to 9-11."

It would be sad if it weren't so humorous that someone who made such a roaring stink about this docu-drama insists that he didn't see it. Here's the money quote:
As for Clinton, he didn't bother watching the movie that angered so many people who once worked for him. [as if it didn't bother him!]

"He made the choice that most Americans made," said Clinton Foundation spokesman Jay Carson. "Of a fictionalized drama version of Sept. 11 or the Manning brothers playing football against one another, he chose the latter."
The number of people who believe anything "these people" say is a rapidly shrinking group. The so-called Clinton legacy is and always has been a complete sham. This was just one docu-drama that revealed the little man behind the curtain.

There will be more!

Islamofascist formula for death

Cox & Forkum take us back to school for a little refresher course just in time for the commemoration of 9-11. Thanks to Texas Fred over at Reject the U.N. for bringing this to my attention.

As usual, there are reams of data over there backing up each editorial cartoon. Go there!

Bozell: "Dems on a 'Path' to shame"

Brent Bozell wrote a good piece titled, Dems on a 'Path' to shame; a little play on words in response to tonight's docu-drama. You need to read all of it, but here are a few of the money paragraphs:
It's sad, but predictable, that some on the far left have dismissed this film as a "right-wing" snow job. The first line of attack on the film came from loyal Clinton Democrats who are simply incapable of accepting any blame, or even a dollop of criticism, over the mistakes leading up to 9/11. (There are reports that the film was being re-edited days before its premiere.)

The Center for American Progress, led by former Clinton Chief of Staff John Podesta, has been marching on several fronts, at both Media Matters for America and at the blog, Think Progress.org, which set up a campaign called "Tell ABC to Tell the Truth About 9/11" and claims the film is guilty of "whitewashing" the Bush administration's failures.

These folks either haven't watched the film, in which case they ought to remain silent, or have seen it, in which case they are being disingenuous.

Both Clinton and Bush officials come under fire, and if it seems more anti-Clinton, that's only because they were in office a lot longer than Team Bush before Sept. 11. Indeed, the film drives home the point that from our enemies' perspective, it's irrelevant who is in the White House. (One scene has Muslims shooting machine guns at a video image of Bill Clinton.) They simply want to kill Americans and destroy America.

The film doesn't play favorites, and the Bush administration takes its lumps as well. Condoleezza Rice, for one, takes a hit. Among other things, she is presented as foolishly demoting National Security Council counterterrorism coordinator Richard Clarke to a smaller role devoted to cyber-security. The famous Aug. 6, 2001, presidential daily briefing, which warned of an impending domestic attack from Osama bin Laden, is presented as spelling out the approaching cataclysm in black and white, and to no avail.
Be sure to read the whole piece!

Kudos to ABC--Are they rejecting the Clintonistas?

Just finished watching Path to 9-11 on ABC and at this point I'm not sure what they edited. We'll know before tomorrow, thanks to the internet. Whatever the edits, the Clintonistas didn't come out looking so hot. But who needed a "fictionalized docu-drama" to come to the realization that the Clintons probably did more damage to this country than any other administration in modern history. We may not know for years to come just what all they did (or didn't do) to jeopardize our national security.

A nuclear North Korea and a China with missile technology are just two things for which they are responsible. What other surprises are out there? Only time will tell.

So what will the Clinton War Room be up to all night long and in to tomorrow? Will they make further demands to lesson the damage to the delicate legacy? Or will they just suck it up like every other administration when damaging things come to light?

The Clintons are different. They can't have their legacy questioned by, of all institutions, an MSM outlet with the prestige of the ABC/Disney apparatchik. You can bet the family jewels that their operatives will be working all night long spinning explanations, making excuses and digging up dirt on individuals who made this television event happen.

It's called a "scorched earth policy" and the Clintons perfected it. Watch for it! They may or may not go down over this because they have so many people perennially going to bat for them, but an entire legion of people could go down with or with out them for the airing of this docu-drama.

Whoever said "Me thinks the man protests too much" (Shakespeare?) may not have had Bill Clinton in mind, but it couldn't be more fitting.

When will the Clintonistas realize that the more they protest, the more they are exposed as former masters of deceit. Alas, in time, even the masters can never withstand the truth. It may take time, but the truth will always prevail.

UPDATE: You can see what was edited from the 5 hour docu-drama here.

Texas Connection On-line Store...Now Open!

My blogging buddy Texas Fred has just opened a great new online store featuring the terrific looking Texas Connection logo. Take a look-see... (there's one caveat....the logo looks so much better with a white background....this dark blue background doesn't come anywhere near doing it justice. Click on the link to see how it really looks!)

When I first saw the The Texas Connection Blog Roll and its captivating logo, (especially captivating if you're a Texan!) I new I had to be on it. That was 6 months ago or so and I still think it's one of the best looking logos out there.

Now you can visit his online store by clicking on the above link. This Texas logo was made to be marketed and I'm surprised he didn't do this a long time ago. Still, it's never too late, so get your buns over there and start buying Texas Connection stuff right now!

Way to go Fred! This is going to be a winner!

This link is now a permanent fixture on the right hand side of this blog, so even when this post scrolls itself down into the ethereal nether regions of the blogosphere, you will still be able to route yourself to The Texas Connection On-line Store.

How great is that?

It's GOOD to be in Congress!

It's against the law to give bribes to congressmen, scratch that...it's against the law to GET CAUGHT giving bribes to congressmen.

This poor guy knew how he could effectively grow his business and took his chances by giving $400,000.00 in bribes to U.S. Rep. William Jefferson, D-La.

He got caught and according to his lawyer he "accepted his guilt and knew he faced punishment." He took it like a man and didn't try to worm his way out of it, quite unlike the dispicable congressman who faces no charges for ACCEPTING THE BRIBES! Did I mention that the dispicable congressman was U.S. Rep. William Jefferson, D-La?

HUH?!

Read the article...it'll make you crazy!

Steyn of the Times: "9/11 enemies are still hiding in plain sight"

Among today's essential reading is Mark Steyn's weekly column in the Sun-Times. It's his remembrance of the day as well as an admonition to a country hopelessly entrenched in the "squeamish culture of political correctness" which so dangerously prohibits decisive action against the obvious enemy.
Five years on, half America has retreated to the laziest old tropes, filtering the new struggle through the most drearily cobwebbed prisms: All dramatic national events are JFK-type conspiracies, all wars are Vietnam quagmires. Meanwhile, Ramzi Yousef's successors make their ambitions as plain as he did: They want to acquire nuclear technology in order to kill even more of us. And, given that free societies tend naturally toward a Katrina mentality of doing nothing until it happens, one morning we will wake up to another day like the "day that changed everything." Sept. 11 was less "a failure of imagination" than an ability to see that America's enemies were hiding in plain sight.
Be sure to read the whole piece. He never disappoints.

Confronting Terrorism Chapter V

The further removed we get from 9-11-01, the more convoluted our resolve against the Islamofascist enemies. Pity!

Unfortunately I'm unable to upload a larger version of this cartoon, so you'll need to go to C & F's home page.

As usual, Cox & Forkum hit the nail on the head and they always have follow up stories behind their editorial 'toons, which is another reason you need to go there.

The Rush H. Limbaugh Sr. Federal Building?

Brian Maloney, over at The Radio Equalizer has a great piece of interest to "mind-numbed robots" across the fruited plain. Rush made brief mention of the federal courthouse under construction in Cape Girardeau which may someday bear the name of his vaunted grandfather, Rush H. Limbaugh, Sr.

It would have to be approved in Congress and who knows what could happen there. Harry Reid would probably write a letter to the radio stations who carry Rush threatening to pull their broadcasting licenses if they don't do something to block the Limbaugh moniker on this federal building. Hey, stranger things have happened!

Desperate politicians make desperate threats...especially this close to an election.

Anyway, please visit The Radio Equalizer for the full story. It's a good read!

A quote to remember!

From Peggy Noonan in her most recent poignant column titled I just called to say I love you:
"Something terrible had happened. Life was reduced to its essentials. Time was short. People said what counted, what mattered. It has been noted that there is no record of anyone calling to say, "I never liked you," or, "You hurt my feelings." No one negotiated past grievances or said, "Vote for Smith."
Please be sure to read the whole piece and yes, it'll bring a tear to your eye.

Conservatives, Libertarians and Evangelicals Must Unite

Alexandra, over at All Things Beautiful stresses the need for everyone who leans rightward, regardless of our religious beliefs or our stands on morality, (read abortion/homosexual rights et al) to come together post haste in order to put the quietus on any possibility of democrat victories this November.

Yikes! When you visit her site you'll see the "elephant" in the room to whom she likens evangelicals. That's me! Guilty as charged!

And as one of those elephants I find it more and more difficult to find people worthy of my vote. What's an upstanding evangelical to do? Vote for Giuliani? Knute? McCain?

Just who are the evangelicals going to vote for? Is anyone "deserving" of our vote. Is there anyone out there who is against abortion, for secure borders, against illegal immigration, for smaller government, for the war against Islamofascists, against confiscatory taxation, for sovereignty, against the U.N., for the rule of law, against international law, etc etc?

Sadly, I see no one on the political horizon who believes in the things I believe. So now what?

Alexandra is right, you know. Even though we evangelicals may not see anyone running with whom we philosophically agree on all issues, we just can't allow the left-wing dems to get control of Congress or anything else for that matter.

It may well be that we have to hold our nose when we cast our ballots this November and in two years, but all of us must realize that we can't permit the appeasers/accomodators/cut and runners to become the stewards of our defense department.

So where do you stand? Alexandra has an interesting Typology Test in her post provided by Pew Research. Take it to see where you are ideologically.

Now all you have to do is decide to unite against the leftist dems on election day. If you're unable to vote for any particular republican, then just vote against the party who refuses to defend this country against Islamofascism.

Massive oil field found under Gulf

According to a WorldNetDaily piece, a Massive oil field has been found under Gulf by Chevron and their partners. Hallelujah!

How long will it be before the left tries to impede the production of this field?

In news reports today I heard some naysaying newsreaders saying it would be years before the impact of this find would be felt by the consumers. That may be true. It's also irrelevant!

It was ten years ago when the Clinton administration nixed exploration in the frozen tundra known as Anwar. There were probably negativistic nabobs back then who lamented that it would be years before the consumer would see the end product, totally negating the importance of long term energy planning. Yet, who are the first to bitch and complain when energy prices go up? The whining dems!

We should be drilling in every available field to become independent from our enemies. We should be the ones controlling the flow of oil internationally, not the Saudis, the Iranians and Venezuelans.

Kudos to Chevron. Bring on the next big find!

Maybe we should start thinking about building some new refineries.

Great Ways to Celebrate Labor Day

There could be a whole host of them, but I will suggest two great ways to celebrate Labor Day:
1. Work! It's Labor Day! What's not to get about that? It's a great day to work and show the Labor Unions you have utter contempt for their unproductive day off.

2. Shop at Wal-Mart! Yes, this would be the perfect Labor Day activity to protest Big Union! Afterall, who hates Wal-Mart more than Big Union and Sen. Joe Biden who is basing his presidential run on hating Wal-Mart (I know, it doesn't make sense because the vast majority of Wal-Mart customers are dems).
You can creatively come up with your own ways to celebrate Labor Day by protesting Big Union who contrived this silly holiday in the first place, but as for me and my household, we are working and shopping at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club and other places of business who honor the spirit of capitalism by working on this day!

Happy Work Day!

Steyn: "Why abduct us? We cede our values for free"

The brilliant and prolific Mark Steyn has a pithy piece about the Centanni/Wiig abductions and their "conversion" to Islam and subsequent speedy repudiation of the same after their release. It's titled, Why abduct us? We cede our values for free.

Obviously, no one is sorry that Centanni and Wiig got away from the murderous Islamic Palestinian thugs with their lives and it would be foolish to stand in personal judgment of their actions because most people can't even imagine what they would do given the same situation.

What Steyn does in this important column is spell out the shortcomings of an "enlightened" (my term, not his) journalistic class that stands for nothing and can convert to anything, for the moment, that will save them from immediate death. Steyn sees a similarity of the Faustian deal with the devil. It's the "moment" that is important...screw eternal values that could cost you your life!

The other observation Steyn makes is the overt and eager willingness to obstruct the identity of Muslims when they allegedly commit crimes or even acts of terror. Names and ethnic identities are often withheld or placed at the very end of news articles in hopes to hide the facts. Why?

Why indeed! It's the point Steyn so poignantly makes in the above linked column. Please read his insightful piece.

Limbaugh to do CBS News Spots?

A DRUDGE FLASH! If this is true, then CBS and the "Perky One" will have huge ratings when the Maha Rushie appears. A smart move!

What took so long?

It's because they know she can't win!

Friends of Hillary hint she may pull out of the presidential race, according to a piece in the Times Online.

If so, it's because they realize she can't win. Not only can't she win, but her defeat would be devastatingly humiliating to the self-obsessed Clintons and the democrat party. She carries way too much cumbersome baggage which the MSM is more than willing to cast aside, but the modern era of fact checking bloggers on the right (and worse yet, for her; the left) would be nightmarish for a Clinton campaign.

Frankly, many on the right side of the isle are relishing her presidential run. Her sound bites, past, present and future would be the main attraction for every talk radio show out there. She would probably get more air time from her detractors than her supporters. This does not bode well for her.

She also has a huge problem with the extreme left which has been pretty nasty to her because of her reluctance to withdraw her support from the war. She knows she can't be too left for most of America and she knows that she can't be left enough for the Michael Moore/MoveOn.org dems who are now in control of the party.

What's a vacillating leftist senator from NY to do?

Like Rush has said so many times, the really left-wing fringe of the democrat party is now in possession of the "testicle lock box" to which Hillary once had full control. The loss of that box has been a devastating blow (no pun intended) to the former Clinton monopoly of power within their party.

In Bed with the Enemy

There's an important piece at the The American Thinker today written by Todd Witengier titled, Strange Bedfellows. You can probably guess what the article is about because the problem is ever more glaring as each day passes. Here's a portion of the piece but you will want to read the whole thing:
Liberals will sleep with anybody. No, this isn’t just another off-color reference to our esteemed former President Clinton. Instead, I’m referring to political alliances. More specifically, I’m talking about those on the left who would trade in common sense for political opportunism, even at their own peril. In their determined effort to decry the Bush administration and take the offensive against all things conservative, they have ignored the advertised threat to their own lifestyle and safety.

How? Well, they work against the administration’s efforts against terrorism; they disavow the benefits of a strong American military presence in the Middle East during a time of war and overt hostilities toward the U.S. and our allies; they publicize and, thereby, thwart defensive investigative techniques employed by the U.S. government to uncover threats to national security. And whom do these actions benefit? The U.S. public? Our allies? Well, besides themselves, these actions can only benefit Muslim extremists with the stated goal to destroy western values and civilization. Well done, lefties. Well done.

If pictures speak a thousand words, then this collage speaks volumes. Through pictures alone it illustrates the mindset of extremists bent on destroying all those who do not subscribe to their brand of religious fanaticism. The futility of the newly reborn 70’s-era activism is clearly demonstrated when you juxtapose the useful idiot, otherwise known as Cindy Sheehan, against the backdrop of mentally- and culturally-stunted Muslim extremists. One group is fueled by naïveté, self-loathing, and partisanship; the other by blind hatred, intolerance, and violence.

Unfortunately for the former, achieving peace by holding hands and singing Kumbaya has been historically unattainable. This is especially true in situations where diplomacy breaks down. With modern civilized nations having legitimate governments, diplomacy can be an effective tool for managing international relations. When dealing with terror regimes whose collective mindset is stalled in 7th-century thinking, however, hopes of diplomatically achieving peace are pure fantasy.

Ironically, the naïve, peace-loving leftists—champions of anti-hate speech legislation in the U.S.—give a hall pass to the most prolific and vitriolic purveyors of hate today (both in speech and action): Muslim extremists. Why is that? The answer is unfathomable, yet at the same time remarkably simple.

In the liberal “mind,” conservatives are the greatest villains known to man; an even greater threat than are Muslim terrorists. Amazingly, liberals marginalize the threat of terrorism and terror regimes, even when such regimes are publicly preaching hate and spreading contempt for western values to the world media.
It's just amazing that a once great and dominant political party could have sped so abruptly to the extreme left. The leftist components were there all along, but now they control the current incarnation of the democrat party and as such will probably self-destruct.

That would be fine, but there's every probability they will institute a "scorched earth policy" when they don't get their way and in so doing wreak untold damage. They're already doing so with leftist organizations like the ACLU and MoveOn.Org just to name two.

Our battle is on many different fronts in this international war against Islamofascism, but the political battle within our borders could be the most destructive and the most difficult to fight.
