The Quagmire Right here at home

It's good to put things in perspective. That's something big media never does.

Take this WorldNetDaily piece, for instance, which reports "illegal aliens murder 12 Americans daily." Shocking isn't it?

WASHINGTON – While the military "quagmire" in Iraq was said to tip the scales of power in the U.S. midterm elections, most Americans have no idea more of their fellow citizens – men, women and children -- were murdered this year by illegal aliens than the combined death toll of U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan since those military campaigns began.

Though no federal statistics are kept on murders or any other crimes committed by illegal aliens, a number of groups have produced estimates based on data collected from prisons, news reports and independent research.

Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens, according to statistics released by Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y. If those numbers are correct, it translates to 4,380 Americans murdered annually by illegal aliens. That's 21,900 since Sept. 11, 2001.

Why isn't the media on top of this 24/7?

Because it doesn't fit their template. They really don't care how many Americans are murdered, raped, pillaged, plundered, or least of all, put out of work by illegals.

Why? You'll have to ask them. You would think that the entire population would be in a state of outrage, and in fact, we probably would be if big media was doing their job. As it is, this is just something that will never attract their attention.

Pity!

Will the Republicans ever "get it?"

Cox & Forkum score another accurate portrayal of the hapless republicans. Will they ever "get it?"

Why does Rangel insist on the Draft?

Democrat Charlie Rangel is vociferous about bringing back the Draft. Why? Do you think it's because he is truly concerned about the size of our military? Is he afraid people aren't enlisting in large enough numbers? He will say those things but his disingenuousness is pretty evident.

He, and democrats like him, want to reinstate the Draft so there will be unwilling participants (draftees) being sent to war. Then, and only then, you will have war protesters in numbers reminiscent of the Viet Nam anti-war demonstrations.

"There's no question in my mind that this president and this administration would never have invaded Iraq, especially on the flimsy evidence that was presented to the Congress, if indeed we had a draft and members of Congress and the administration thought that their kids from their communities would be placed in harm's way," Rangel said today on CBS' "Face the Nation" program.
The Draft would actually jeopardize our military and our resolve. Can anyone (besides the dems) actually see the Draft as a necessary thing when the military experts insist the Draft is superfluous?

It's obvious that Rangel and his ilk wish to disrupt the volunteer army by stirring up the "American Street." They long for anti-war demonstrations and the Draft would be just the tool they need to encourage the rage.

So THIS is what the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy was up to!

A couple of posts ago, I wondered aloud what the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy was up to.

Apparently they were in Palm Beach convening at "Restoration Weekend," an event sponsored by The David Horowitz Freedom Center.

One of the speakers was Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colorado, who is quoted in a WorldNetDaily piece, as saying President Bush believes America is an "idea" and not a "place."

PALM BEACH, Fla. President Bush believes America should be more of an idea than an actual place, a Republican congressman told WND in an exclusive interview.

"People have to understand what we're talking about here. The president of the United States is an internationalist," said Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo. "He is going to do what he can to create a place where the idea of America is just that --it's an idea. It's not an actual place defined by borders. I mean this is where this guy is really going."

Tancredo lashed out at the White House's lack of action in securing U.S. borders, and said efforts to merge the U.S. with both Mexico and Canada is not a fantasy.

"I know this is dramatic -- or maybe somebody would say overly dramatic -- but I'm telling you, that everything I see leads me to believe that this whole idea of the North American Union, it's not something that just is written about by right-wing fringe kooks. It is something in the head of the president of the United States, the president of Mexico, I think the prime minister of Canada buys into it. ...

"And they would just tell you, 'Well, sure, it's a natural thing. It's part of the great globalization ... of the economy.' They assume it's a natural, evolutionary event that's going to occur here. I hope they're wrong and I'm going to try my best to make sure they're wrong. But I'm telling you the tide is great. The tide is moving in their direction. We have to say that."

(the article continues...be sure to read the whole thing)

Some of us have been saying as much for some time now, but we're generally thought of as "nutters."

Maybe some of the attendees of the "Restoration Weekend" will have had some epiphanies along these lines. I hope the Talkers will open up this week and let us know what went on this weekend.

JOHN BOLTON: Super Ambassador!

I think Pamela, of Atlas Shrugs fame, said it best:

Another Jew hating, Israel bashing resolution passed by the corrupt world body that ignores the Islamic Jihad of the Khartoum Government in Sudan, ignores the oppression of non Muslims in Muslim countries, ignores the mad ravings of Islamic Iran bent on annihilating the West, ignores the brutal killings in Indonesia, ignores their own peace keepers' acts of child rape and slavery - but the light unto nations? That is what they wish to extinguish.
That's right, the utterly corrupt and anti-Semitic U.N. has the unmitigated gall to condemn Israel once again while giving a pass to terrorists on a regular basis.

But, alas, Super Ambassador John Bolton has taken a bold stance against the effete powers that be at Turtle Bay and squarely put them in their place.

See how the Good Ambassador bitch-slapped the U.N. up one side and down the other!

John Bolton is a good man and a great U.N. Ambassador. He deserves our heavy duty support because he's not going to get it from the pussilanymous politicians or the Euro-socialists.

Hmmm...Wonder what the Right Wing Conspiracy is up to?

So what's going on with the right wing conspiracy? What might they be up to? Toward the end of the Mark Levin show tonite (Thurs 11-17-06), he mentioned he wouldn't be on the air tomorrow because he was meeting with Hannity, Rush, David Limbaugh as well as some others.

Intriguing!

One can only hope something might be happening behind the scenes with the movers and shakers in the conservative movement. To be sure, nothing is happening (yet) within the republican party so one can only hope those with microphones and other means of influence will begin to do something that can put the conservatives back on track.

But what could it be?

Rush may have hinted about the potentiality of a means of fighting back last week indicating that maybe those on the right side of the isle should be doing some investigative reporting on those in the media who are so quick to uncover the poop of conservatives. Isn't it about time people start investigating the unscrupulous investigators? After all, isn't all fair in love and politics?

I hope Rush, Levin, et al are coming up with some hardball, definitive, fight-back tactics that will subdue and take out the offensive left-wing democrat leadership. The repubs need to adopt a take no prisoners approach to politics. But since we know they won't, it's going to be up to the movers, shakers and talkers to defeat these obnoxious dems.

We can't trust the elected republicans to come to the aid of the conservative movement so we must act on our own. It's going to be interesting, but real conservatives aren't going to sit back and let the easlily bolled over republicans be pushed around by arrogant dems who act as if they own this country even when they are in the minority.

Conservatives are going to make sure we are heard and we're not going to allow the republican party to be hijacked by a liberal Senator by the name of John McClain. McClain is NOT a conservative and he cannot be allowed to become the republican nominee for president.

McClain has done serious damage to the conservative movement. He even considered becoming a democrat a couple of years ago. McClain in a total phoney who is trying his best to look like a conservative. The MSM love this so-called "maverick" because he's been contra-Bush for the huge publicity it's gotten him.

He's a media whore foisting himself off as a conservative while being nothing more than a leftist. He's a fraud who aligns himself with leftists more that with those on the right side of the isle.

And so, the vast right wing conspiracy must do something that we know the elected officials will not do of and by their own volition. The real power brokers have to take it upon themselves (ourselves) to make sure that the conservative movement progresses onward.

Glenn Beck: MUST SEE TV Wednesday Night!

Glenn Beck has been touting his TV Special this week about the Global War against radical Islam. He previewed bits of it on his radio show this week and according to Beck, his future with the network (CNN) is on the line if he doesn't produce some decent numbers. Why? Because the folks at CNN (and every other network) probably realize that America has its collective head in the sand and has no real interest in what the radical Islamists have in mind for us and the rest of the "unbelieving" world that refuses to embrace Islam.

Beck's Special is called, Exposed: The Extremist Agenda. According to Beck, it contains information about which the vast majority of America (and the world, for that matter) is virtually unaware and uninformed.

Here's what Glenn has to say about the special:

"As most of you probably know, I grew up outside of Seattle, Washington. My career in radio has taken me all over the place…Baltimore, Tampa, Philadelphia…and now I work in New York City. I’m a pretty regular guy (okay, not exactly—but close) and not much different from most of you. I’ve been married, divorced, married again, and a father four times along the way. So how then did I get on such a kick about this Islamic Extremism, World War III, End-of-the-world business…and why is it so important to me that I get you informed about it as well? Well, it’s really pretty simple.

First of all, I love my family more than anything and will do anything to keep them safe. They are my life, so even the hint that something or someone might threaten them gets me riled. But even more directly than that, I care because someone presented the information to me. Given the stark, undeniable facts and evidence, it was impossible for me to not get infuriated. And I know that you’ll feel the same—the truth is too compelling to ignore.

You guys know that I’m essentially a rodeo clown who got a lucky break getting to do what I do. But at the same time, because of my job, I get exposed to a lot of information that most people don’t. For instance, I didn’t know about the documentary “Obsession” until someone sent it to me, and it’s been that way with all kinds of books and videos and articles—people think I can help get their idea exposure, so they send me their stuff. Sometimes the ideas are, how can I say this, um…"eccentric?" But other times I get to see stuff that blows me away and I can’t believe that these stories aren’t on the front page of every newspaper and leading every newscast in the country. And because I’m this rodeo-clown-made-good and not a super serious newsman or journalist, people aren’t afraid to extend themselves. And that makes us both lucky.

So even if you don’t consider yourself a "politics" person or can’t see how what’s happening on the other side of the world has anything to do with you, I’m asking you this: if you’ve ever enjoyed one of my dumb jokes or learned something or simply got through the day a little easier by tuning in to me, watch my show on Wednesday night. I believe with all of my heart that I’m going to give you some crucial information that will fundamentally change the way you view just about everything. I know that sounds like a pretty tall order, but like it or not, we’re living in a world where what we think about God (whatever that word means to you) has put us at odds with some pretty dangerous people. Just think back to 9-11 if you still need convincing—3000 innocent lives were taken by extremist thinking and behavior, and literally millions more here and across the West are at stake if we don’t snap out of our complacency.

The lines between us and them are very clear, and if you don’t know where they are or who’s on which side, I promise to explain everything. Wednesday night may be the most important TV show I ever do and I’ve worked harder to get it on the air than anything in my entire career. It’s that important to me. And while you may not realize it yet, it’s important to you too."

-glenn

We can't afford to hide our heads in the sand...Especially now when the dems are essentially demanding that we surrender to the terrorists in Iraq by pulling out before the Iraq government is ready to fend for themselves.

We live in dire times. We need to know who our enemy is and what they have in mind for us. America HAS to wake up before it's too late.

Be sure to watch Glenn Beck's special Wednesday night on CNN Headline News at 6 PM, 8 PM and 11 PM (Central Standard Time). Check your local listings, but do not miss this show!

Netanyahu: "It's 1938 and Iran is Germany"....do the the dems really care?

Likud leader, Benjamin Netanyahu sees that Iran is publicly preparing for another holocost and the rest of the world doesn't seem to much care:

By Peter Hirschberg, Haaretz Correspondent

LOS ANGELES - Drawing a direct analogy between Iran and Nazi Germany, Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu asserted Monday that the Iranian nuclear program posed a threat not only to Israel, but to the entire western world. There was "still time," however, to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons, he said.

"It's 1938 and Iran is Germany. And Iran is racing to arm itself with atomic bombs," Netanyahu told delegates to the annual United Jewish Communities General Assembly, repeating the line several times, like a chorus, during his address. "Believe him and stop him," the opposition leader said of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. "This is what we must do. Everything else pales before this."

While the Iranian president "denies the Holocaust," Netanyahu said, "he is preparing another Holocaust for the Jewish state."
The very last thing that we should be thinking about is pulling out of Iraq; but the dems can't wait to get out of there. If, for no other reason, we should be in Iraq because of its proximity to Iran and Israel. Who else but the United States is going to come to the aid of Israel when (and not if) Iran decides to strike.

It's just a matter of time.

But if left to the dems' desperate policy of cut and run, we will be long gone when Iran decides to hit Israel.

Wouldn't it be better to keep all of our troops in Iraq as a hedge against Iran?

The dems want no part of it. They want our troops out now. Damn the Iraqis AND the Israelis.

Be sure to read the rest of the above linked piece.

Something to remember for Veterans Day

I got this in an email today from a friend and no doubt it's making the rounds. The quote is attributed to Prime Minister Tony Blair, but I haven't checked it out. Whether or not he said it, it couldn't be more true and fitting on this, the eve of Veterans Day.
When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America , he said:

"A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in... And how many want out. Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:

1. Jesus Christ
2. The American G. I.

One died for your soul, the other for your freedom."
Thank God for the redemption of Jesus Christ and thank God for the selfless American G.I.

Note to President Bush: The New Tone isn't going to work this time, either

I sort of heard some of the President's news conference today. It may have been one of his worst ever and I just couldn't endure all of it. He lost me at the specious "new tone" talk. Sorry, Mr. President, but the so-called "new tone" tactic has never worked in Washington and you may have come close to saying as much in your news conference, but to employ it now is a sign of massive weakness. Yes, your power has diminished greatly in the last 24 hours, but that doesn't mean you should become a slavish toady to the obnoxious left. After all, becoming more "left-like" is the reason the dems won this go around.

The republicans betrayed the conservative base. That's not to say guys like Santorum and Steele weren't conservative enough, but way too many of the base decided to say "screw you!" How unfortunate...and by the sound of the President's news conference today, he empowered the left to do whatever they wish.

They got Rumsfeld; who next? Rumor has it Bolton is the next to go. Who thereafter? Rice, Cheney, Bush, himself? Is the left ever sated by just one destroyed soul? Absolutely no!

Let's see, there was Gingrich, Lott, Delay...and that's just a short list. The accommodating republicans have yet to learn that the left will never be satisfied with anything short of total destruction of whoever or whatever they are out to dominate.

Republicans can only survive and thrive if they return to their truly conservative roots. They have a long way to go. Right now they are essentially the democrat party and the dems are virtual socialists who make left-wing republicans look conservative by comparison.

This must change if America, as it was founded, is to survive and the change needs to happen within the next two years

Michael Kinsley on Pelosi's Platform

Michael Kinsley had a column in the Washington Post on the Pelosi platform which Rush referenced yesterday.

Kinsley is pretty much the quintessential left winger and he wrote this knowing full well it would be printed on the day people would be voting for or against their party of choice. He even encouraged democrat voters (probably with tongue in cheek) to vote before they read his piece as it was less than favorable to the dem's "A New Direction for America."

Who really knows what he's saying...that the dems are sounding too "republican" or what. Who knows and who really cares.

I found it fascinating that he finds the Pelosi agenda damaging (to the left or to America?) but that he didn't notify America until the very day we voted.

Thanks, Michael!

Some Observations

My friend, Ronald L Dart has some observations about the elections:
Election Results

By this morning, a lot of Republicans are probably wondering what hit them. I think three things conspired to hand congress back to the Democrats.

1. History. The mid term elections of second term presidents usually see strong gains by the opposition party. The reason for this may be seen in number 2.

2. Frustrated Republicans. An awful lot of Republican voters were in a snit because their congressman departed from conservative values. Votes made in anger can't be taken back, so they get to enjoy seeing the Dems in power for two more years, maybe longer. One wonders if they will get over it in time to keep Hillary from becoming the next President of these United States.

3. Conservative Democratic candidates. No one called this to my attention before yesterday, but the Democratic party fielded a large number of conservative candidates this time. That was either a move worthy of Karl Rove, or a fundamental realization among Democrats that they could no longer allow the left wing of their party to speak for them. It would have been a smart move to give frustrated Republicans an alternative. By the way, did you notice how religious the Democratic candidates have become?

What this may imply for the unity of the Democratic party is another matter entirely. Ask Senator Joe Lieberman.

Did the Dems win or did the Republicans lose?

This will be rightly hashed and rehashed in the days and weeks to come. Who can really know at this point but I think the republicans lost. The republican electorate gave conservatives reasons to stay home; at least in the eyes of those who stayed home, to teach them a lesson (do they feel better now?).

My thought is that republicans lost many votes because an untold number of conservatives were pissed off. They were pissed because of the unprotected border issue which went unaddressed for way too long as well as massive growth in government spending; two very unconservative issues.

Many see the republicans swerving to the left almost as fast as the left has swerved to the extreme far left.

And so the republicans lost the House and maybe even the Senate.

God help us!

Wonder what the stock market will do tomorrow?

The market is a pretty accurate indicator of what events portend for good or bad. Keep your eye on the market. It's been gangbusters up to election day. Will the market be "happy" about the election of a democrat majority House with Speaker Pelosi at the helm?

Hmmmm!

Tuesday, November 07, 2006

So, the Dems get the House, Now What?

I guess the voting machines worked pretty well after all, at least according to the dems' plan of attack had they lost. You know... "if we lose, it's voter fraud, if we win, it's not."

The democrat victory in the House is very bad news for our troops, for Iraq and for our position in the Middle East, just to name a few areas of concern. The House has the power to withhold funding for the War in Iraq and you can bet they will.

God bless our troops. They didn' t vote for democrat control of the House, but then they aren't in a position to campaign against the anti-war, appease and accommodate, cut and run peace-nicks. Maybe within the next two years America will realize what a huge mistake it was to put so many leftists in charge of leadership positions in the People's House.

It's not going to be pretty!

More than ever the republicans need strong leadership to stand up to the dems. Now is not the time for concession (appeasement and accommodation).

On the upside, maybe it will be a period of awakening for so many who didn't think it mattered one way or another who got elected in this cycle and maybe it will impede an election of even more leftists in '08 along with a leftist president.

Let's hope so!

One More Reason to Vote Republican

Abortion isn't officially on the ballet today, but when you vote democrat you're casting your ballet for the party of abortion. It's become the unseemly sacrament of the secular left. It's not about "choice" and it's not about "women's health issues." It's about the destruction of innocent life.

What could be more important than innocent life itself? On Tuesday, choose life!

Alaska Homeschoolers succumb to government money

According to a WorldNetDaily piece, homeschoolers in Alaska are succumbing to the handouts of Big Government. Let the receiver beware:

Despite their total independence, thousands of home-educating families had joined a government program that offered them free money.

The whole idea seemed to contradict what Alaskan home education was all about: independence, religious teaching, academic freedom and rugged individualism. But money talks, even in Alaska.

The program is called Interior Distance Education of Alaska, or IDEA, a program of the Galena City School District. The program, launched in 1997, was the brainchild of Carl Knudsen, superintendent of schools in Galena, a small isolated town in the middle of the state with fewer than 700 residents, halfway between Fairbanks and Nome, and no roads connecting it to the outside world. With the nearby Air Force Base closing down, the town fathers wondered what could be done to keep the town economically alive.

It was then that Knudsen's brain lit up with a revolutionary idea. Why not use online technology to tap into a market that no one else in public education was serving: the homeschool student? And thus IDEA was born. The plan was to entice homeschoolers with a package of goodies, including computers, access to instructional resources, assistance from certified teachers, guidance from a network of field representatives who are also homeschooling parents, plus a cash allotment for non-religious educational materials.

Since all of these homeschoolers would now be considered public schoolers, Galena would be entitled to state funding of 80 percent of the basic rate paid for students in their own district. Thus, from a local base of only 120 students, by 2004, they were able to grow into a school district with 3,712 students online and an income of $16 million.

The cash allotments are the big draw for homeschooling families: $1,600 per student for kindergarten through third grade, $1,800 for grades 4-8, and $2,000 for grades 9-12. While parents are free to use and teach any curricula they want, they're not permitted to use the allotment for any religious program or activity. They do not get cash; they simply get reimbursement for buying the approved materials. Thus, a family with five children in the elementary grades must spend $8,000 on materials. To help the families spend that money, IDEA now sponsors curriculum fairs with vendors eager to separate these homeschoolers from their new-found riches.

Do you want your home school to be considered a "public school?"

The temptation for these families to take this money must be nearly unbearable. But they have to realize it's not free money from a benevolent rich uncle. There's always a major price to be paid when you're on the receiving end of Big Government.

We started homeschooling more than 20 years ago; back when it wasn't quite so trendy. In fact, we had to be careful what we did during school hours and where we took our kids for fear of being turned in to the local truant officers. In many states it was illegal to homeschool.

Many school districts insisted that parents needed to notify school officials and use a "government approved" curriculum. More than a few parents were intimidated into allowing school officials into their homes so they could determine whether or not the parents were fit to educate their own children.

Government has always wanted to be involved in regulating home schools. Subsidizing homeschools is the easiest way to get that obtrusive camel head inside the homes of vulnerable homeschoolers who are almost always in need of financial aid.

Government money always comes with strings and homeschoolers who cherish their independence would be wise to "just say no" to the addictive government hand-outs.

Early in our homeschooling experience we learned about the incredible story of Hillsdale College
which steadfastly refused government subsidies in order to maintain independence from intrusive government regulations and requirements. To those of you who may be new to homeschooling or unfamiliar with Hillsdale's story, please go to the Hillsdale site and learn more about this unique institution.

The Hillsdale story is a must read for home schoolers who may be considering taking government money. If you homeschool, and are thinking about accepting government money, please consider all the ramifications and conditions.

Like the neighborly crack dealer who gives out free samples to get you hooked, once you get on the program, it can be difficult to break free of the habit.

It's better to just not get started.
