Ron Paul; the Real Republican?
FoxNews is running a good piece on Congressman Ron Paul and asks if he is the Real Republican. This article caught my eye after I saw Congressman Paul's name on the ignominious list of republicans who sided with the dems by signing the so-called non-binding resolution meant to humiliate and weaken President Bush's stand on the war in Iraq (which in turn can only demoralize the troops and embolden the enemy).
I'm a big Ron Paul fan and it was more than a little off-putting to see his name there with liberal republicans and leftist dems whose actions weaken America, but then I remembered that Ron Paul is not your run of the mill politician. He's a libertarian at heart who doesn't take going to war lightly. The libertarian credo is pretty much "live and let live." Unfortunately, such idealism doesn't do much to counter Islamo-fascism.
Regardless, Congressman Paul is a principled man who believes in and strictly lives by the constitution as few other politicians do. Before each vote he asks himself if the constitution allows congress to do what they are about to do. A man after Davy Crockett's own heart.
What a concept in todays political climate!
Reagan said that "libertarianism is the very heart and soul of conservatism" and when you take a look around congress, you don't see too many of them today.
Be sure to read the above linked piece on Ron Paul. He's one of the good guys who is almost always misunderstood. Especially by big government republicans.
