Dictators HATE technology!

THIS is an example of why thugocracies hate, no, abhor technology and it will be equally true in this country if and when leftists gain control and determine to stifle those who oppose them.

Interesting, isn't it, that we haven't heard much from Hollywood or from dictator loving ex-presidents regarding the Chavez fiasco in Venezuela. You can know them by their friends, their actions and lack of action every time, can't you.

Is the domestic left embarassed, proud, ashamed...or are they just keeping a low profile and hoping no one will notice that Hugo Chavez IS, in fact, a communist dictator, just like Castro, whom they also laud and admire.

What is it with the left that they always side with the enemy?

eHarmony sued for excluding gays

eHarmony is being sued in California for excluding gays. So? If they don't offer that service, is Big Gov't going to force them to offer that service.

Why doesn't some enterprising gay guy start his own dating service? Or is the gay community just trying to stir things up?

Me thinks the latter.

Schlafly: Immigration Sellout, Not Reform

Here's an important piece from Phyllis Schlafly's Eagle Forum. Immigration Sellout, Not Reform:
The Kennedy-Kyl (K-K) Amnesty bill should be titled An Act to Destroy the Republican Party because it pits President Bush against the majority of the Party that elected him. When Senator Ted Kennedy appeared as the centerpiece of the photo-op announcing it, that told the grassroots all they needed to know about the politics of the deal trumpeted as bipartisan.

The Bush Administration has been tone deaf about how offensive are the words comprehensive and compromise. The American people want border security that we can see with our own eyes on television, and they are ready to defeat and disdain Members of Congress who vote for a package deal that contains amnesty and guest worker proposals.

Despite denials, the K-K bill is amnesty. It will give 12 to 20 million illegal aliens exactly what they want, namely, the legal right to remain in the United States by being immediately given a probationary visa.
Please read the rest of it!

Why did the RNC fire their phone solicitors?

According to The Washington Times, the RNC fired all 65 of their phone solicitors last week. Why? The "high-ups" claim it's because the phone equipment is archaic and needs to be replaced. Others are saying it has everything to do with the fact that republicans are refusing to donate because they feel betrayed by the Bush administration and senate republicans who plan to vote in favor of the proposed "immigration" bill.

Donations are way down and the republican base is mad as hell and they're not going to take it anymore, so they blame the phone system and fire 65 fund raisers.

Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens after they replace that old, inefficient telephone equipment. That should make all the difference in the world!

Right!

Pic of the Day

Found at Hugh Hewitt's website. This pic, photo-shopped or not, is worth a couple of thousand words.

Cal Thomas: Hillary's Socialist Village

Here's an excellent piece by Cal Thomas that goes where Big Media is reluctant to go. The media won't want you to know how Hillary intends to change the socio-economic face of America:
In a speech at Manchester School of Technology in New Hampshire, Clinton said it's time to replace President Bush's "ownership society," which she called an "on your own" society, with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.

Clinton said she prefers a "we're all in it together" society: "I believe our government can once again work for all Americans. It can promote the great American tradition of opportunity for all and special privileges for none."

Doesn't such a society already exist elsewhere? It's called socialism, where government has sought to make all things economically equal and the only equality is that all are equally poor. Wasn't defeating such a society precisely why we fought and won the Cold War? Why does Senator Clinton wish to embrace the principles of the losing side?

Clinton has merely updated the old and discredited (except among socialist dictators) Karl Marx saying: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need."

Clinton's remarks came before students at a school whose purpose is to train high school kids for careers in the construction, automotive, graphic arts and other industries. She told them, "We have sent a message to our young people that if you don't go to college . . . that you're thought less of in America. We have to stop this."

Her assertion is bunk, but it is the typical class warfare bunk that comes from rich white liberals who want to take money from one group of people and give to others who didn't earn it in hopes they will become loyal Democratic voters.
Be sure to read all of Cal Thomas's column. The left is getting bolder when it comes to leaking their real agenda but the MSM is going to downplay the agenda until they have the White House. Then they'll say the Socialist agenda will have been a mandate (but they won't be able to call it socialism)!

President Bush insults his most loyal supporters

President Bush insulted his most loyal supporters yesterday by saying those who don't want the "immigration bill" are refusing to do "what's right for America."
WASHINGTON -
President Bush wants Congress to approve an immigration compromise bill that will be supported mainly by Democrats.

He’s no longer worried about getting re-elected, so in his pushing for the bill’s passage, Bush has now told millions of voters to get lost. These are the people who have been his most loyal supporters on virtually every other issue.

Yet Bush now condemns them as unwilling to do “what’s right for America” and accuses their allies in Congress of using “empty rhetoric” to misrepresent the bill as a form of amnesty for illegal aliens. Bush appealed for “a chance to fix the problems in a comprehensive way that enforces our border and treats people with decency and respect.”

We don’t see how it is either decent or respectful to label critics of the immigration bill as unpatriotic and intellectually dishonest.

In the most fundamental sense, the debate is not about whether people from foreign countries should be allowed to come here and become American citizens. In a post-9/11 world, the critical debate is about securing our borders; everything else is secondary.

Whatever happens with the immigration bill now being debated in Congress, Bush’s greatest failure has been his consistent refusal to take concrete and credible steps to secure America’s borders, especially the nearly 2,000 miles shared with Mexico.
It remains to be seen whether this bill is going to make it, but if it does, there's going to be hell to pay for those who support it; which doesn't bode well for the republican party.

Frustrated conservatives are aching for decisive leadership in congress as well as in the presidential race. There are plenty of politicians who stake claim to the "conservative" moniker, but who among them stands up unapologetically and challenges the foolish platitudes emanating from the left.

Where is the conservative who will demand that our borders be sealed to illegals. Where is the conservative who will demand we lift restrictions on domestic drilling, nuclear power plants and refineries? Where is he? Why isn't anyone seriously challenging Al Gore's faith-based global warming (now called "climate change" for obvious reasons) agenda? Why isn't anyone decrying the foolishness of socialistic medicine? Why isn't anyone explaining the fact that millions of illegals are destroying Social Security?

It seems as though the entire country is being hijacked by an immovable force who couldn't care less what the people want when it comes to secure borders and what's really good for us and our future.

Big Government gladly will respond to the pork mongers. Want more money for your special interest group? No problem! More billions for Africa? Only an insensitive hate filled conservative would question that.

How about we concentrate on securing the borders right now, and before making new, unenforceable laws (which would immediately legalize all of the illegals who are living here), we uphold and enforce our existing laws.

I've posted the above "Amigo de Mexico" illustration before, but I figure this is as good a time as any to repost it.

I'm not a republican; I'm a conservative. There are still a lot of conservatives out there, but the republican party has become nothing more than the democrat party and the dems have outed themselves as outright socialists. Both parties have listed to the far left leaving conservatives with no one to support.

Figure it out, elected republicans! You are cutting yourselves off from the people who put you in office!

Chris Bliss on a Mission to Unite America

Chris Bliss, the incredible juggler and comic, is on a worthy mission to unite the country:
"Everywhere I go in America these days, people seem to have two things in common: a profound love of our country and the ideals we’ve always stood for in the world, and a growing sense that somehow we’ve lost our way. More than anything, good and decent people of all stripes are dismayed over the deep divisions and polarization within the country, and looking for some positive first step they can take to build a bridge back to common ground."
Bliss aims to accomplish this by promoting the construction of monuments in every state honoring the Bill of Rights. Currently there are no monuments to honoring the Bill of Rights.
While I applaud his efforts, I believe the entire constitution should be lauded, honored and upheld. I'm all for the Bill of Rights, but they can't stand alone.

See one of his astonishing juggling performances right here.

When Leftists Can't Handle Criticism

This is what happens when the intolerant left is unable to deal with criticism; they have to silence the opposition because they cannot win ideological debates. They refuse to debate because the ideology of socialism and communism cannot survive intelligent debate, which is why the proponents of socialism and communism resort to name calling, marginalization and ultimately, military might to enforce their intolerant and untenable beliefs.

The left persistently calls conservatism intolerant. In so doing they deceitfully or errantly project their own feelings of intolerance onto others and totally disregard or disingenuously ignore their own intolerance. In setting themselves up as the standard, they disregard all other opinions. The hypocrisy of the left is mind boggling and unacceptable.

Thankfully, the extreme left doesn't yet control the military in this country, but can we expect anything less in the good ol' USA if the intolerant and oppressive left gain control of the White house and Congress and the Judiciary?

We already have the McCain-Feingold bill determining what can be spent and/or said, on political campaigns (Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances). Does anyone see a problem with this?

Then there's the The Fairness Doctrine. The left would like nothing more than to shut down Talk Radio because they cannot win in the free exchange of ideas in the market place. Left-wing Talk radio has failed in virtually every venue. They cannot handle debate. They lose every time so they must shut down the competition. That's what the Fairness Doctrine is all about.

The only difference between the left in this country and the left in communist countries, such as Venezuela, Cuba, Zimbabwe, ad naseum, is that they don't yet have total control. If and when the domestic left have total control, you can kiss your conservative, free speaking ass good-bye...unless you have some technical trick up your sleeve that can by-pass the oppressive control freaks in Washington. Even then, if they can locate you, you'll be silenced.

That's how the intolerant left operates. Like Algore said regarding global warming, "the debate is over."

They can only wish! The debate has just begun!

Only time will tell as to how much control the left will have in the near and extended future. Will the voting public believe the bogus rhetoric of the left or will American voters wake up one of these days.

Quote of the Day, Pilgrim!

By (who else) John Wayne:
Courage is being scared to death... and saddling up anyway.

Happy 100th John Wayne

The good folks in Winterset, Iowa, are paying proper homage to their favorite home town hero, the Duke; John Wayne. Be sure to visit the John Wayne Birthday Centennial Celebration site. Lots to see there!

They're not making them like the Duke anymore.

We need a patriot like John Wayne in Washington who would savor the opportunity to kick some politically correct leftist butt; or some moderate republican butt, for that matter.

Actually, it would suit me fine if he went to Washington and just whupped up on everyone!

More on the life and times of John Wayne here.

Don't miss these 100 reasons to love John Wayne! Here are just a few:

3. "You may not like every film, but my fans will always come back because they know I won't be mean, I won't be small, and like an old friend, I won't let them down."

5. Because he embodied American masculinity at mid century and imposed an image on our idea of masculinity's past.

6. "A man ought to do what he thinks is right" (Hondo).

7. For the gentle way he could treat a fragile woman.

8. For the rump-slapping way he could treat a strong woman.

11. "I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them" (The Shootist).

14. For the incredibly cool way he cocks his rifle by twirling it in both Stagecoach and True Grit.

16. Because all he has to do to dominate a scene is to enter it.

23. Because he possessed a stubbornness that was practically biblical: 100 cigarettes a day for decades, and after he lost a lung to cancer he promptly began smoking small cigars.

24. Because he had a sense of humor about the construct known as "John Wayne."

27. For the implacable way he walks through a herd of cattle at the end of Red River.

30. Because he would play anything except weak.
You just gotta love (and respect) John Wayne!

The Power of Marginalization

Stories like this can appear with multiple sources day after day, yet only a very few will pick up on them. Why? Because of the mighty power of marginalization and peer pressure.

If you're a talk show host and start talking about the North American Union you're going to be marginalized and called a "nutter" faster than you can say New World Order. Sorry; I didn't really mean to say that. Everyone knows that term is a figment of some conspiratorial whack job's imagination.

Still, there seems to be something going on at our borders that politicians will not talk about. That same "something" is also keeping them from putting up a fence.

Why do we have to have a new bill on "immigration?" Why can't we just enforce the laws we already have and start protecting our borders?

This isn't an immigration problem...it's a national security problem! The fact that our politicians refuse to even discuss that leads one to believe that some surreptitious deal has been struck with Mexico and Canada with which we (the voters) have had absolutely no say.

Something is awry in our country. The people are beginning to sense that we're about to get reemed by Big Gov't. What's really scary is that Big Gov't may realize our discontent and distrust of them and may be preparing to cut us off at the pass.

For our own good, of course!

American Thinker: Why the Left Hated Jerry Falwell So Much

The American Thinker ran a good piece yesterday titled Why the Left Hated Jerry Falwell So Much. The displays of hate are so very telling of the intolerant left. They simply cannot abide anybody who disagrees with them.
They held him to be a Bible thumper, bookburner, Nazi in a pricey suit, the Elmer Gantry of the postmodern epoch -- all in all, the prototype of the left's image of a Southern preacher. Under the circumstances, the mask of judicious tolerance could be tossed aside just this once.

But explaining the depth and viciousness of that hatred - that's something else again. As in many such cases (W being another), there's a serious disconnect between the reality and the reactions evoked. Yes, Falwell had flaws, hard though that may be to accept in a society with so many flawless individuals striding around. There was that remark after the 9/11 attack, which he repented quickly enough. His involvement in the Bakker scandal, however well intended, looked horrible and accomplished nothing. There was the problem with the smirk, which appears never to have gotten adequate attention.

But none of that seems like enough. Nor does the incident mentioned in all the media commentaries involving the Teletubbies, which, apart from being utterly bogus (Falwell had nothing to do with the article at the center of the uproar), also lacks requisite heft. Obnoxious as outing a cartoon puppet may be, it falls a little short of placing the perpetrator on quite the same level as history's great criminals.

But of course, none of that is what it's really about. Falwell was despised and loathed for a very simple reason: he defied the leftist consensus, and he won. He made them back down. He frightened them terribly, by confronting them with clear evidence that the country was not what they insisted it was, and that their utopian dreams would never come to pass. That was his crime, one for which he could never be forgiven.

Quote of the Day

George S. Patton said it:
If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking.

The Ethanol Myths

You gotta love John Stossel. He has the unmitigated gall to actually question things that are foisted off on Joe and Jane Q. Public as fact. We should know better when "those in the know" are quick to do what they want to do without much debate (sort of reminds me of the new "immigration" bill they want on the fast track).

Anyway, Stossel has written a good expose' on the ethanol craze. It's just another reason why we should never believe the folks in Washington when they insist they're only doing what's best for us.

Automobile aficionado and host of KLIF's Inside Automotive, Ed Wallace, knows the automotive industry inside and out and wrote a comprehensive report about ethanol in the April 27 2006 edition of Business Week Magazine. It was titled Ethanol: A Tragedy in 3 Acts. Here's a sample of Wallace's findings:

The other negative aspect of this inefficient fuel is that numerous studies have found that ethanol creates less energy than is required to make it. Other studies have found that ethanol creates "slightly" more energy than is used in its production. Yet not one of these studies takes into account that when E85 is used, the vehicle's fuel efficiency drops by at least 25% -- and possibly by as much as 40%. Using any of the accredited studies as a baseline in an energy-efficiency equation, ethanol when used as a fuel is a net energy waste.

Furthermore, no one has even considered the severe disruption in the nation's fuel distribution that mandating a move into ethanol would cause. Over the past month, gas stations from Dallas to Philadelphia and parts of Massachusetts have had their tanks run dry due to a lack of ethanol to blend. The newswires have been filled with stories bemoaning the shortage of trucks, drivers, railcars, and barges to ship the product. Ethanol can't be blended at refineries and pumped through the nation's gasoline pipelines.

The recent price spikes for gasoline have forcibly reminded the people of Chicago and Wisconsin of what happened when ethanol was forced on them during the summer of 2000. Moreover, the promise of energy independence that Brazil has explored through ethanol is widely misunderstood. Recently a Brazilian official, commenting on our third and most recent attempted conversion to ethanol, said that when Brazil tried using agricultural crops for ethanol, it achieved only a 1:1.20 energy conversion rate, too low to be worth the effort.

On the other hand, ethanol from sugar cane delivered 1:8 energy conversion, which met the national mandate. Unfortunately for us, sugar cane isn't a viable crop in the climate of our nation's heartland. But the part of Brazil's quest for energy independence that the media usually overlooks is that ethanol wasn't the only fuel source the country was working on: Its other, more important, thrust was to find more oil. To that end, last week Brazil's P50 offshore oil platform was turned on. Its anticipated daily output is high enough to make Brazil totally oil independent.

More smog, infinitely worse gas mileage, huge problems in distribution, and skyrocketing prices for gasoline. Maybe now that we're witnessing the third act in America's ethanol play, the upcoming epilogue will close this show forever. Even great advertising works only if the product does.
Wallace is straight shooter and if anything, he leans a bit to the left. He's not "big oil"...he's just a pragmatic automotive enthusiast with a keen sense of history and apparently, the future.

Hat tip to ALTERNATIVE ENERGY BLOG for ethanol cartoon.

Just say NO to the new "immigration" bill

David Limbaugh's most recent column on the new "immigration" bill tells you what you need to know so that you can call your representative and tell him or her that you want them to vote NO on the bill.

It's a boondoggle and its passage will, with a stroke of the pen, LEGALIZE every illegal immigrant in the country and ensure that they have every right and even more than those who are going through the normal procedure of legalized immigration.

We don't have a problem with immigration in this country. We have an unbelievably HUGE, OUT OF CONTROL problem with ILLEGAL immigration.

Don't be confused with the terminology of the argument.

The Love Story Continues

Nancy Reagan, in an exclusive interview with Diane Sawyer, says that three years after her husband's death, she misses him more than ever. Sounds like it might be a good interview.

Tomorrow, May 22, 2007, The Reagan Diaries will be released.
Only four U.S. presidents kept regular diaries, including George Washington. This will be the first time a U.S. president's diaries have been released.

In the diaries, no topic of presidential life is off-limits, including the president's own embarrassments.

While Reagan was in office, a very British Prince Charles visited the White House for tea. In England, a cup of proper tea is made with loose leaves steeped in water at the bottom of a pot. During the prince's visit, the White House served hot water with a tea bag.

"Poor Charles sat there and didn't quite know what to do," Reagan told Sawyer. "So he eventually put the cup down and after everybody had left, Ronnie said, 'Was something wrong?' And Charles said, 'Well, I didn't know what to do with this.'"

Ronald Reagan was a man so truly middle American he couldn't bear to write out even harmless little swear words, even "damn."

"He just couldn't bring himself to do it," Reagan said. "He just didn't like it."

He wrote that the movie "The Officer and a Gentlemen" was "good story spoiled by nudity, language, sex."

"He'd have a terrible time today," Reagan laughed.

Also on every page of the diaries is the president writing a love story. Over and over, he wrote, "Even six minutes without Nancy was an eternity." "Nancy in California, this place feels empty." "Didn't sleep well. Need my roommate."

Reagan said those entries didn't really surprise her.

"I suppose it might sound a little strange to say, it pleased me that he missed me. We didn't like being apart," she said. "Neither one of us. And it is true that when you're in the White House alone, it is a lonely place. Big and lonely.
Be sure to read the entire piece.

El elefante en el cuarto

Sorry, I forgot to press "one" for English. I meant to say "The elephant in the room." That's what the horrific border problem is, you know. The politicians would like us to believe ( so they can get re-elected) that they are working as hard and fast as they can to put together a bill to solve the "immigrant" problem. They are, in fact, scurrying about to get this newest amnesty bill passed (it would immediately make the illegal aliens "legal" thus providing amnesty, regardless of the unenforceable hoops through which they're supposed to jump).

Unfortunately, nothing (or very little) is being done or will be done by this proposed legislation to secure our borders.

Joseph Farah of WND has written about the real problem we're facing at the border. If you want to talk about a war that's not being won, it's our war at the border that's not even being engaged!

Don't miss his above linked piece and keep letting your Big Govt Representatives that you're not happy with the amnesty bill which sidesteps border security.

You don't even have to know what's in the 700 pages of fine print. All you have to know is Senators McCain and Kennedy want this thing passed as soon as possible with as little debate as possible. Do you trust these guys?

It was 40 years ago today...my, how time flies!

Well, not exactly today, but in early June it will have been 40 years. The X and Y generations may not know that these were the opening words of the title track on this near relic album:
It was forty years ago today
Sgt Pepper taught the band to play
I guess you had to be there!

There's a good retrospective in the online edition of the Wall Street Journal regarding the 40th anniversary (how could that be?) of the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album...yes, they were called albums back then, and out of touch boomers still may refer to modern day CD's as albums, to the disdainful chagrin of our hip kids.

Must read for boomers (and maybe even our kids).

A Mother's Day Message (you don't want to miss)

Hoping you all have a wonderful Mother's Day, especially if your Mom is still up and about. My friend and mentor Ron Dart, has done a really good radio broadcast titled "A Mother to Remember" especially for this Mother's Day weekend (if you don't see the title up on this page just type it in where it says 'key words').

You can hear it at the above link or just scroll down until you see it on the right hand column of this blog and click right on it. It will be available on my blog all weekend.

It's an excellent Mom's Day message. Do yourself a big favor and give it a listen.

Happy Mother's Day!

Some Random Observations

Why in the world is Al Sharpton getting so much attention from those who should know better? If it weren't for Sean Hannity, FoxNews and Glenn Beck, he would just be another parody.

Why is it that when you come across the term zeitgeist (the spirit of the times), the meaning of the word is always given parenthetically, but when you come across any other word, like quark, for example, we're left in the learch? Maybe it has something to do with the zeitgeist (the spirit of the times).

Remember when there was freedom of speech and when bigoted people said bigoted things you would consider them to be bigoted and that would be the end of it? Now when bigots say bigoted things everyone is offended and apologies have to be made to make things right so bigots will stop saying bigoted things. Meanwhile, the bigots are still bigots, but since they are being silenced, we may not know who they are.

Good on Britain!

Remember back a decade or two ago when there was a push for us to go metric and the one-worlders were shocked and dismayed when the vast majority of Americans basically said, "shove it!" Well, our brothers in Britain have told the EU that they have no intention of going metric. So the EU has stopped forcing Britain to go metric.

Way to go Brits!

Limbaugh gives "Moronic Media" a Tutorial on "Barack the Magic Negro"

If you missed it, Rush gave a much needed tutorial on the "Barack the Magic Negro" parody he's been playing for the last month and a half. Some adversarial media types are attempting to stir it up a bit to see if they can get El Rushbo in trouble and ultimately fired, but since they seem to be completely clueless, they end up looking ridiculous, taking everything out of context weeks after the parody first played.

If you didn't hear Rush's show, then you must go to his above linked site to see what some of the media have been slow to realize.

The Media hates Rush with a visceral hate that is palpable in whatever they write or broadcast about him. What they hate about him, as he deftly covered today on his popular radio show, is the fact that his hilarious parodies, more than anything else, expose the media and the democrats for the immense hypocrites that they are, and they are unable to refute him with intelligent arguments; they can only try to assassinate his character as they do with everyone else who disagrees with them.

It should be very instructive to even casual observers that the arguments of the left are vacuous or non-existent. Name calling occurs immediately upon an uncomfortable confrontation of ideals...or the claim that they've been "unfairly attacked." How lame!

THEY are the ones who see skin color, sexual preference and gender differences . THEY are the intolerant who eschew tolerance and freedom of speech when it comes to anyone they oppose. THEY are the ones who seek to silence their opposition. THEY are the ones who cannot offer solutions to the world's problems... they can only blame the Bush administration for all of the world's ills. THEY, the socialistic left, cannot come out and state that which they believe because they could never be elected if the electorate knew of their socialistic ideals. The leftist democrats have to foist themselves off as conservative democrats, an oxymoron if there ever was one!

What the left and their lap dog media cannot stand is what they do on a daily basis to anyone who dares to go against them; that is, to be marginalized and made fun of which is exactly what Rush does so skillfully, day in and day out. Since they've been rendered helpless in all that they've tried to do to disarm and discredit him lo these many years, they are becoming desperate and in so doing, are looking ever more effete and ineffective.

For those on the side of truth, the implosion of the left is a fascinating thing to behold. The more frustrated they become, the more unhinged they become. Their arguments become vitriolic and hate-filled, totally void of logic. Name-calling and marginalization results, thereby ending any intelligent discussion.

If you're not listening to Rush these days, you are missing some of the best programming available in any media out there. You better start tuning in!

French President must be OK...NYT's disapproves

The NYT's is already sniping about the new 'Conservative' French President. His biggest sin? He supports the United States and likes President Bush. Gasp!

What if Christians Declared to 'Gays', 'We will BURY you'

Can you imagine the caterwauling going on right now if some Christian organization declared to a "Gay" activist group that "We will BURY you?" The accusatory screeches of "hate-speech" and intolerance would be everywhere. There would no end to the rage from the left. Christians would be on the defensive and probably in hiding from the unhinged radical left.

As is always the case, what the left (in this case, a "Gay" activist) projects on conservative groups, they are guilty of themselves, and there is never a price to be paid for their hypocrisy and indiscretion. Why not?
A board member for Equality California has come out swinging at the Bible-based Capitol Resource Institute, which works on behalf of family and biblical values in California, especially among its lawmakers.

"If you continue your efforts, we will BURY you," said an e-mail from Ben Patrick Johnson, to his "colleagues" at the CRI, according to a statement from the Christian organization.

"For a group that purports to expand tolerance and civil rights, Equality California is not practicing what it preaches," CRI said.

"This type of language evokes images of Communist leader Nikita Khrushchev pounding his shoe on the podium of the United Nations when he declared that Communism would bury America," said CRI. "The irony is not lost on us – Communists squelch all opposing speech, just as the modern 'intolerance' movement seeks to silence all opposing viewpoints.

"Johnson then threatens 'we have every intention of yours [group] going down, as have others who oppose decency and human rights.' It is shameful that a group that represents itself as promoting tolerance and civil rights would stoop to the very tactics it accuses CRI of using. Not once has CRI personally attacked opponents in such a degrading and vicious manner," said the organization.

"In a video diatribe against CRI posted on his website, Johnson declares that CRI and its supporters are 'hate peddlers' and 'conservative, religious prejudice peddlers.' He further declares that we are 'smirky, self-righteous folks' who have 'launched an aggressive campaign against legislation to protect gay youth in California's and ultimately America's schools.' This statement reveals not only the vitriolic language this supposed 'tolerance' group uses, but also the true agenda behind such legislation as SB 777. The radical homosexual agenda intends on sweeping the nation. California is merely the first step in the campaign to stifle free speech and stamp out opposition to 'alternative lifestyles,'" CRI said.

There's more to read at the above link.

Ironic, isn't it, that those who complain about intolerance and hate-speech are the very ones most guilty of those accusations.

Thought Police vs. Christianity

WorldNetDaily asks, Will Bush veto 'thought police'?
The nation's largest public policy women's group is asking President Bush to commit to a veto of a "hate crimes" plan that, as WND has reported, opponents fear would target Christians and be used to demolish both freedom of speech and religion in the United States.

"Last week the House Judiciary Committee, egged on by radical homosexual groups, passed what can only be called a Thought Crimes bill," said former White House insider Chuck Colson in his Breakpoint commentary. "It's called the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act. But this bill is not about hate. It's not even about crime. It's about outlawing peaceful speech – speech that asserts that homosexual behavior is morally wrong."

Please read the entire piece!

Peter Beddow, a new blogging acquaintance of mine, said it best: "Thou shalt not kill, but thou really shalt not kill if thou hatest thy victim." Be sure to check out his blog.

When did the 1st Amendment become null and void?
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The very idea of a "thought crime" couldn't be more ludicrous. No rational person could ever imagine such a bill passing, yet it could very well pass and become law.

How can Constitution loving people sit back and take this? Worse, how can "free exercising" Christians not be enraged at the thought of this becoming law. Thank goodness for the ones who are fighting this, but I know there are millions of Church goers who aren't paying attention to what's happening to them before their sleep encrusted eyes.

Wake up, Christians!

National Day of Prayer

Today is the National Day of Prayer and I confess that I forgot about it until I heard Glenn Beck talk about it on his radio show this morning.

Better late than never!

There's a National Day of Prayer Task Force website that lists some activities and events taking place across the country if you're interested. One of the scriptures at that site caught my eye:

2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
I don't see that happening today, but the fact that we have a National Day of Prayer gives one hope that we could become a praying nation every day at some point.

With all our faults, we still live in the most blessed and one of the freest nations on the face of the earth. Thank God!

Astronaut Walter Schirra dies at 84

Astronaut Walter Schirra, one of the original guys deemed to have the "right stuff" died today at age 84:
SAN DIEGO - Walter M. "Wally" Schirra Jr., who as one of the original Mercury Seven astronauts combined the Right Stuff — textbook-perfect flying ability and steely nerves — with a pronounced rebellious streak, died Thursday at 84.

He was the only astronaut to fly in all three of NASA's original manned spaceflight programs: Mercury, Gemini and Apollo. Although he never walked on the moon, Schirra laid some of the groundwork that made the lunar landings possible and won the space race for the United States.

Schirra died of a heart attack at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, said Ruth Chandler Varonfakis, a family friend and spokeswoman for the San Diego Aerospace Museum.

You Just Have to Love Doug Giles

I don't know why I don't read every Doug Giles column, but whenever I stumble across them, it's always a laugh out loud, wish I'd written that, scenario.

Printing a portion of his column wouldn't do it justice because you have to read the entire piece. It's well worth reading. This particular piece is about the shooter at Virginia Tech and how not to become a shooter like him. It's a keeper. Please read it.

Giles, as I've said before, is the male version of Ann Coulter on testosterone. If you can't handle testosterone in mega-doses, by all means, don't even go there. His columns may be too frightening! Heh heh!

They "Go" in Three's...Who's Next?

Bob Newhart's buddy, Tom Poston died today at age 85:
LOS ANGELES - Tom Poston, the tall, pasty-faced comic who found fame and fortune playing a clueless everyman on such hit television shows as "Newhart" and "Mork and Mindy," has died. He was 85.

Poston, who was married to Suzanne Pleshette of "The Bob Newhart Show," died Monday night at home after a brief illness, a family representative, Tanner Gibson, said Tuesday. The nature of his illness was not disclosed.
Poston was one of the "men on the street" on the original Steve Allen way back in the olden days...for me that would be back in the late '50's or very early '60's. Don Knotts and Louis Nye were the other "men on the street" who also got their start with Steve Allen.

Luminaries always seem to go in three's...wonder who's next...
