Happy Thanksgiving!

Ah, Thanksgiving...that truly original American holiday of holidays we set aside to pay homage to and give thanks to the One who has blessed us so greatly these past few hundred years. Thank God we're members of the lucky sperm club.
You can't choose your parents and you can't decide what country you want to be born in, but those of us born in America, have parents who can out run border patrols or came here legally, have much for which to be thankful.
I know, I know; America is slip sliding away toward all out socialism which is going to "change" life as we've known it. Still, we have relative peace, aside from increasing crime, and prosperity compared to the rest of the world. If you have your health, what more could you ask for. If you are blessed to have an intact family, give them all a big hug and thank God you have each other.
Happy Thanksgiving America! Count your blessings and give thanks to God for his loving kindness and mercies. He has blessed us mightily and if we, as a people become guilty of the sin of ingratitude, we could lose these blessings faster than you can say, "there is no God."

Memorable Thanksgiving Day Quotes

Here are some pithy quotes to mull over on this special day:
If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, "thank you," that would suffice. ~Meister Eckhart
Remember God's bounty in the year. String the pearls of His favor. Hide the dark parts, except so far as they are breaking out in light! Give this one day to thanks, to joy, to gratitude! ~Henry Ward Beecher

Thanksgiving was never meant to be shut up in a single day. ~Robert Caspar Lintner
The unthankful heart... discovers no mercies; but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and, as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings! ~Henry Ward Beecher
Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds. ~Theodore Roosevelt

Thanksgiving is the holiday of peace, the celebration of work and the simple life... a true folk-festival that speaks the poetry of the turn of the seasons, the beauty of seedtime and harvest, the ripe product of the year - and the deep, deep connection of all these things with God. ~Ray Stannard Baker (David Grayson)
On Thanksgiving Day we acknowledge our dependence. ~William Jennings Bryan
To speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch Heaven. ~Johannes A. Gaertner
A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all the other virtues. ~Cicero
God has two dwellings; one in heaven, and the other in a meek and thankful heart. ~Izaak Walton
Nothing is more honorable than a grateful heart. ~Seneca
O Lord that lends me life,
Lend me a heart replete with thankfulness.
~William Shakespeare
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow. ~Melody Beattie

Go, Janet Go!

If the name Randal Rapp doesn't mean anything to you, it's because it doesn't really mean anything to anybody. Just kidding; he's my best friend from high school going way back to the early '70's and he happens to live in the greater Phoenix area.

He sent me this email yesterday opining about his notorious governor, Janet Napalitano (D- Arizona) who may very well be the next "czar" of Homeland Security. Heaven help us!

Here's what Randal had to say about her:
Just a local opinion of our Arizona Governor, Janet Napalitano, who is actually being considered for the cabinet position for Homeland Security.

Her first high profile case as a lawyer was representing Anita Hill in the Clarence Thomas hearings.

She was appointed US Attorney for the District of Arizona by the Clintons.

The Clinton political machine assisted her in becoming our Governor in spite of being a solid red state.

She would have lost in her re-election bid for Governor had the Republicans not split the vote by running two candidates (one Republican, and one claiming to be Independent after loosing the primary.)

She has spent the State into deep debt. It has been said she would accept any Washington job just to not have to face up to the mess she has helped create.

The state has never had more crime and more illegal aliens than now. And she has tried to every way possible to prevent Sheriff Joe (Arpaio) from enforcing the laws that the vast majority of Arizonans voted for regarding the deportation of Illegal aliens.

And finally, after grandstanding on the national news about how the Bush administration had not stepped up and secured our borders, she with much fanfare, sent our Arizona National Guard to help secure our southern border. She allowed them to take their guns, but would not allow them to take any bullets. When the Mexicans who were up to no good discovered this, they would shoot at our Guard and all they could do is drive away and take cover. Which lead to more brazen attacks with illegal border crossers attacking our National Guard and they could not even protect themselves. These brave men and women were put in a position to look like cowards. This because our Governor did not want an incident with our neighbors to the South.

On one hand, I hope she gets the job. Good riddance. On the other, don't you feel more secure?

Politically Incorrect Lament of the Day

From the historically astute Victor Davis Hanson's most recent column:
Something has happened to the generic American male accent. Maybe it is urbanization; perhaps it is now an affectation to sound precise and caring with a patina of intellectual authority; perhaps it is the fashion culture of the metrosexual; maybe it is the influence of the gay community in arts and popular culture. Maybe the ubiquitous new intonation comes from the scarcity of salty old jobs in construction, farming, or fishing. But increasingly to meet a young American male about 25 is to hear a particular nasal stress, a much higher tone than one heard 40 years ago, and, to be frank, to listen to a precious voice often nearly indistinguishable from the female. How indeed could one make Westerns these days, when there simply is not anyone left who sounds like John Wayne, Richard Boone, Robert Duvall, or Gary Cooper much less a Struther Martin, Jack Palance, L.Q. Jones, or Ben Johnson? I watched the movie Twelve O’clock High the other day, and Gregory Peck and Dean Jagger sounded liked they were from another planet. I confess over the last year, I have been interviewed a half-dozen times on the phone, and had no idea at first whether a male or female was asking the questions. All this sounds absurd, but I think upon reflection readers my age (55) will attest they have had the same experience. In the old days, I remember only that I first heard a variant of this accent with the old Paul Lynde character actor in one of the Flubber movies; now young men sound closer to his camp than to a Jack Palance or Alan Ladd.
Be sure to read his entire column. This paragraph just happened to bang a gong for me at this particular moment.

It's Thanksgiving Week...Pass the Gravy!

Margaret Sanger, racist founder of Planned Parenthood's is honored at the Smithsonian

When will Black people wake up to the fact that the leftist democrats, who they've faithfully re-elected time after time, finally realize that it is the leftist dems who are the mortal enemy of the Black race. Please take 7 minutes out of your life to hear, in Margaret Sanger's own chilling words discuss "the Negro problem" and what to do about it.

Why would the tax payer funded Smithsonian Institution choose to honor her? Shouldn't it be more than a bit disturbing that the democrats, who always pretend to be looking out for the down trodden Black people, have actually targeted poor Blacks with empty promises of "hope and change?" How have those leftist "Great Society" policies really helped the Black family?

Haven't they, instead, torn the Black family asunder by rewarding unwed mothers monitarily for each additional child if there is no father in the house?

Aren't there any democrats out there who can see through this? Aren't they the ones who call conservatives racists and haters? Aren't they the ones who abhor the so-called intolerance of Christians when in reality, Christianity is the worlds most tolerant and forgiving religion?

Just take a look around at society in general and observe who the real haters are. You won't have to look very long or hard if you will only take an honest look at those who make the news. It's not Christians you have to fear. It's not conservatives you have to fear. It's not corporations you have to fear. It's not Big Oil or WalMart you have to fear.

Fear those who promise to give you everything you need and want. It is they who have the power to take everything you have.

RINO Quote of the Day

From left-wing Senator Chuck Hagel (RINO Ne):

"You know, I wish Rush Limbaugh and others like that would run for office," a sarcastic Hagel continued. "They have so much to contribute and so much leadership and they have an answer for everything. And they would be elected overwhelmingly. [The truth is] they try to rip everyone down and make fools of everybody but they don't have any answers."
Sen. Hagel, millions of us out here across the fruited plain wish that Limbaugh and others of principle, would run for office. You see, a vast number of us yearn for leaders who would stand up for the principles set forth by our founding fathers. We yearn for real leaders who would stand up to the leftists across the isle that you, and so many other appeasers like you, are so pleased to cross. You didn't do us any favors coming back across the isle. You might as well have stayed over there.

Yes, Limbaugh and others like him do have much to contribute and their leadership ability pales yours into insignificance. That's why they make the big bucks and why politicians on both sides of the isle want to silence them. Your ilk just can't handle the truth!

Sadly, Limbaugh and others like him, whom we steadfastly admire, would probably not get elected because they wouldn't bribe voters with endless big govt "freebies" to insure re-election. Our would-be leaders would abide by the constitution and the writings of our founding fathers which so many of your friends and incumbents find contemptible. We detest those of you who steal from the productive at the point of a gun and redistribute them to the unproductive, which is the very root of the financial conundrum in which we find ourselves.
How dare the likes of Christopher "Countrywide" Dodd lecture anyone about the banking crisis. How dare Barney Frank lecture anyone about anything. Any crisis we have in this country is squarely on the shoulders of inept and corrupt politicians.
It's not Limbaugh that makes you and your unprincipled cohorts look like fools. You do that to yourselves without anyone elses aid. He just lets us know about it because your friends in the mainstream media have been covering for you for the last 50 years.

Yes, we yearn for men and women of strong moral values with staunch beliefs in the founding documents of this once great country.

That we are a nation in decline is in part because of leaders such as yourself who eschew the principles on which this nation was founded.

Good riddance, Sen. Hagel (RINO, Ne).

Google to aid in Flu Searches

DRUDGE is reporting that Google "will launch a new tool that will help federal officials "track sickness." Isn't technology grand?

Well, maybe not. The current situation in which we find ourselves wherein Big Govt controls nearly everything and will continue to control EVEN MORE aspects of our life, this may not be such a great idea. But then, how do you stop technology, especially when it aids Big Govt to "help" us even more?

GOOGLE, continuing to work closely with government, claims it would keep individual user data confidential: "GOOGLE FLU TRENDS can never be used to identify individual users because we rely on anonymized, aggregated counts of how often certain search queries occur each week."
Is that as comforting to you as it is to me?

At the risk of sounding paranoid, it's not all that difficult to imagine Google (or any other search engine) tracking Home Schoolers, gun owners, pro-life Christians, or heaven forbid, those who may not approve of same sex marriages, those who may refuse Govt mandated inoculations, etc, etc, ad infinitum . I'm just sayin'.

That may sound paranoiac, but just because you're paranoid doesn't mean someone's not out to "git you."

While we're talking about paranoia, here's a timely piece: Paranoia on the rise, experts say. Hmmm, I wonder why.

Quote of the Day

By Anne Bayefsky at National Review Online:

Nobody is happier about the election of Barack Obama to the Presidency of the United States than the folks at the United Nations. It is as if they finally discovered kryptonite, and Superman will soon be disabled.
Ah, yes. Isn't it telling that people around the world who hate us and want us destroyed are cheering Obama's election? To the United Nations we will become the bottomless funding apparatus for their destructive international endeavors.

Oh, and that pesky sovereignty thing we've come to love these past couple of centuries, well, it's no longer "sustainable" by U.N. standards.

Sirius XM struggles...for now!

Three months after merger, Sirius XM is struggling as a result of slow car sales. It's in new cars, after all, where people listen to satellite radio.

Well, just hang in there for a little while because as soon as the Fairness Doctrine is implemented satellite radio will become the home of Talk Radio, read, Rush, Sean, Levin, Glenn Beck, Boortz, Laura Ingraham, Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager, Mike Gallagher, Bill Cunningham et al, ad infinitum, not to mention all the local talkers. Where else are they going to go?

Thanks to the authoritarian leftists in Congress and the White House, who hate free political speech, AM radio, as we now know it, is going to go bye bye and satellite radio is going to go crazy like it's never gone before. So, hang on guys, it's about to skyrocket!

The loyal and numerous listeners to Talk Radio aren't about to do without our Talkers. They're have become one of our main means of information (along with the Internet) and will continue to do so, which is why they are so hated and feared by those in Big Govt and the lapdog media.

The Rules Have Changed

The leftists have been making the rules for longer than you might imagine. They've dominated academia for the last 50 or more years. The mainstream media and the left have been one and the same for all of my 56 years. The leftists convinced the world that Joe McCarthy was delusional and they've pretty well convinced moderate republicans that the world no longer will tolerate partisanship and we just need to all get along (read, agree with them.)

Welcome to the brave new world wherein Saul Alinsky Has Taken the White House.

If you're not listening to Talk Radio you may have missed the above linked piece, but it's important because unless you're watching carefully you may not be aware of what has happened and what will be happening when Obama is inaugurated President of the United States.

We've never had a radical leftist in the White House before and things are about to change; but then you can't say we weren't warned.

Here are a few salient paragraphs from the Spectator:
Too many conservatives think we've seen all this before -- in 1964 and 1974 and 1992 -- and that we know how to handle it. Fly, meet ointment: We're not dealing with the same sorts of opponents. These New Alinskyites who are taking over the White House, combined with the most leftist congressional leadership in memory, will not let us play by the same rules under which conservatives recovered from those earlier debacles. They will try to drastically tilt the playing field, seed our side of the field with land mines and, in short, rig the process to make it next to impossible for the political right, or Republicans, to recover. And they are likely to succeed in at least some of these designs.

It will begin with their efforts to secure a filibuster-proof majority of 60 senators (including the two independents). Right now the libs (and yes, all the Democratic senators, with the possible exception of Nebraska's Ben Nelson, are libs) have 56, with three Republican moderates and one conservative leading their races but awaiting recounts or runoffs. Watch for the Alinskyites to try stealing all four, and to succeed in at least two. We've seen this game before. They did it in Indiana's "Bloody Eighth" congressional district in 1984. They almost succeeded in 2000 in Florida. They did succeed, outrageously so, in the Washington State governor's race in 2004. Those are just the most obvious of many similar examples. And now they are even more ruthless, more lawyered-up, and in a more powerful position to pull it off than they were in any of those instances.

You need to read the entire piece. The rules have indeed changed and republicans, nice guys that they are, have never been up for the ruthless battles required to defeat the unethical and uncompromising left.

So, now what?

This is why conservatives detest what republicans have become

The republicans may have deserved to lose. It pains me to say that and I did in fact vote; I voted steadfastly against Obama. But this article is all you need to know about why the republicans lost the election. Here's the nauseating headline: Lindsey Graham Praises the Rahm Emanuel Selection and here's the nauseating quote:
"This is a wise choice by President-elect Obama.

"Rahm knows Capitol Hill and has great political skills. He can be a tough partisan but also understands the need to work together. He is well-suited for the position of White House Chief of Staff.

"I worked closely with him during the presidential debate negotiations which were completed in record time. When we hit a rough spot, he always looked for a path forward. I consider Rahm to be a friend and colleague. He's tough but fair. Honest, direct, and candid. These qualities will serve President-elect Obama well."

The republicans have adopted the Rodney King philosophy ("Can't we all get along?") of making nice with the dems. They've bought in to the bogus ideology that partisanship is bad and non-partisanship is good. Non-partisanship by the Left's definition (and it is they whom the lame republicans have allowed to control the language) means that you must cave in to dems at the risk of being marginalized, minimized, demonized and relentlessly made fun of by sycophantic media types. Ironically, the republicans never protest when the dems are partisan.

As I've said for years, the republicans have become democrats and the dems have become socialists and there's no where for conservatives to go.

As Rush, Hannity and Mark Levin and others have been saying, the republican party must be purged and re-energized by the party's base; the ones who were ecstatic with Sarah Palin.

Lindsey Graham, John McCain and the other RINO's who are more comfortable crossing the isle than aligning with their own base are the reason Obama won this election.

Wednesday, November 05, 2008

Who Won Tonight?

The clear winner in this abysmal election (at least for conservatives) is Sarah Palin. She gets to go home to a pristine and productive state where she is loved and she and her family will be able to lead a quasi normal life for the next couple of years, depending on what her political plans are. God bless them.

John McCain could have never have done as well as he did without her and yet, there are those who are even now asking how much she hurt McCain's campaign. Get real...his campaign was going nowhere until he adroitly pulled her on board the straight talk express and his stock skyrocketed (psst.....because she was way more CONSERVATIVE than he was/is.)

He could have even done better had he veered harder to the right but he was always of the opinion that he could successfully sway more of the dems to go with him; but these are the things that the pundants will be inanely discussing for months to come.

For conservatives, it's mind boggling that more than half of the country may be willing to go the way of socialism if, in fact, they really realize that is where Obama and the leftist dems in congress will be taking us posthaste.

We are indeed on the cusp of fundamental change in this country and it's not going to be in our best interest. Assuredly, it won't be long before Joe Biden's promise that one or more of our enemies will "test" Obama. God help us when that happens!

'You and I Have a Rendezvous With Destiny'

A tip of the hat to The Weekly Standard for this clip:

Quintessential Ronaldus Magnus inspires and instructs in this famous speech. It's what we need to hear on this pivotal election day.

Obama speechwriter defects to McCain

Wendy Button, long-time speech writer for the democrat party has defected from the Obama camp to support John McCain:
Button's reasons for defecting from the Democrats include false campaign slogans, poor economic policy and her admission that McCain was right about the surge in Iraq; but her argument begins with outrage over the way the Obama campaign attacked two women and a common man – Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber – the kind of people she thought the Democratic Party championed.

"I can no longer justify what this party has done and can't dismiss the treatment of women and working people as just part of the new kind of politics," Button writes.

She says "the final straw" came when Democrats attacked and mocked Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher (a.k.a. Joe the Plumber) for balking at a tax hike during difficult economic times.

"The party I believed in wouldn't look down on working people under any circumstance," Button writes. "And Joe the Plumber is right. This is the absolutely worst time to raise taxes on anyone: the rich, the middle class, the poor, small businesses and corporations."

Button further railed on Democratic fiscal policy, stating, "Our approach to problems – big government solutions paid for by taxing the rich and big and smaller companies – is just as tired and out of date as trickle down economics. How about a novel approach that simply finds a sane way to stop the bleeding?
