Muddying the Water
When you know you're in the wrong, the best thing you can do is muddy the water. How, you ask? Bury everyone with information. This is Clinton Modus Operandi 101. Make it next to impossible or extremely tedious to get to the truth. Inundate them with information; misinformation, disinformation, new information, old information, superfluous information, and it won't be long before people become apathetic to any given situation. Unless, of course, the story refuses to go away.
Sen. John Kerry, the presumptive democrat presidential candidate, could make this growing SwiftBoat story go away immediately if, in fact, he has told the truth about his 4 months in Vietnam. All he has to do is release his military records...poooof! The burgeoning problem is gone! So why doesn't he? Isn't it all too obvious?
The water needn't be so muddy, and, in truth it isn't if you just ask a few simple questions:
1)Did Kerry commit war crimes in Vietnam? If so, he is a war criminal and unfit to become even mayor of Hoboken, NJ (well, maybe that's an exaggeration!) much less president of the United States. If not, he is a liar because he has admitted to them time and time again.
2)Did Kerry get his medals/ribbons honorably? Yes or no! This problem can easily be solved by releasing military records. Those basic questions demand answers, not a battery of attorneys threatening to sue everyone who utters anything embarrassing for the Kerry people. But as long as the attorneys are making threats, why don't they sue John O'Neill, author of "Unfit to Command"? Mr. O'Neill is inviting it. Wouldn't that definitively answer these questions?
How Kerry is handling this matter is what people need to be taking note of. He doesn't like what 260 veterans are saying about him and instead of refuting them, he enlists attorneys to shut them up and quell any publicity they may receive. If elected, will he attempt to silence his critics with the help of the Attorney General, FBI, CIA and every other agency at his disposal? Is THAT the kind of man we want as president...one who eschews our precious freedom of speech?
This a deepening, widening, ever more expansive problem for the Kerry camp and it's becoming more and more difficult for allegedly objective mainstream media types to cover up for Kerry's ineptitude and apparent dishonesty. What are the democrats to do? Don't you wish you were a fly on the wall of Hillary's War Room? Neither do I.
