Which was Worse; Abu Graibe or the riots spawned by Newsweek?

How many men died in the media created "torture chambers" of Abu Graibe? Give up? None! Okay, some of the Islamo-facists may still be in therapy due to the horrific "panties on the head routine" and the devastating "naked cheerleader pyramid" bit, but aside from that, no one died.

So far, at least 15 people have died as a direct result of the riots inspired by an unsubstantiated story in Newsweek alleging that the Koran was desecrated at Gitmo. It's not that Newsweek is the news magazine of record in the Islam world, but International wires (read, Al Jazeera) picked it up, and behold, all hell broke loose. Was this an intended consequence to make the Bush administration look bad, just like the never ending Abu Graibe non-story? Hmmmmm!

But they've apologized... sort of. So what now? Will Newsweek be held responsible for irresponsible reporting? Will they have to pay reparations for the loss of life? Will their credibility be tossed in the dumper like the NYTimes, CBS, CNN, and so many others in the MSM? We'll have to wait and see, won't we.

And once again, would this piece of yellow journalism ever have been brought to light without the New Media?
