RUSH to Texas
The two best kids in the world gave me an early Father's Day gift...A ticket to see one of my all time favorite people tonight. WBAP, the blowtorch of the Southwest, brought Rush Limbaugh to Dallas to raise money for the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children and my wife and I were able to attend.
It was great to see El Rushbo in person.
A lot of people don't get Rush and are put off by his pseudo pompous mien. Pity!
He knows how to irritate his critics and detractors and has always taken great pleasure in capitalizing on what they so passionately detest...His over confident pomposity. They don't get him because they hate him and what he stands for and he doesn't care. The fact that he doesn't care makes them hate him all the more.
To his fans and admirers, Rush is one of the keenest and most accurate political analysts in the country. He is probably more responsible for the decline and fall of the "drive-by media" and rise of the New Media than any other individual. He's been the one out in front, taking the arrows and thwarting the left wing in the arena of ideas since his show was nationally syndicated in 1988. His audience and base have never stopped growing.
Rush never ceases to give credit to his loyal audience for his continued success, nor does he ever cease to believe in America and the good folks who make this country work. His message is, and always has been, that it's we, the people, who make America work in spite of, and not because of politicians in Washington DC.
Rush is a downhome, God loving, patriotic, middle America, mainstream conservative, all American man whom I've always greatly admired. They're just not making any more Maha Rushies.
When it's all said and done, Rush is going to be regarded as one of the all time great Americans who did every thing in his power to entertain, enlighten, educate and inspire Americans to be the best they can be and to stand up for what's right.
Tonight the Dallas/Ft. Worth area saluted Rush and honored him by designating him an honorary Texan. It's just one more feather in his larger-than-life cap.
