Why does Rangel insist on the Draft?

Democrat Charlie Rangel is vociferous about bringing back the Draft. Why? Do you think it's because he is truly concerned about the size of our military? Is he afraid people aren't enlisting in large enough numbers? He will say those things but his disingenuousness is pretty evident.

He, and democrats like him, want to reinstate the Draft so there will be unwilling participants (draftees) being sent to war. Then, and only then, you will have war protesters in numbers reminiscent of the Viet Nam anti-war demonstrations.

"There's no question in my mind that this president and this administration would never have invaded Iraq, especially on the flimsy evidence that was presented to the Congress, if indeed we had a draft and members of Congress and the administration thought that their kids from their communities would be placed in harm's way," Rangel said today on CBS' "Face the Nation" program.

The Draft would actually jeopardize our military and our resolve. Can anyone (besides the dems) actually see the Draft as a necessary thing when the military experts insist the Draft is superfluous?

It's obvious that Rangel and his ilk wish to disrupt the volunteer army by stirring up the "American Street." They long for anti-war demonstrations and the Draft would be just the tool they need to encourage the rage.
