Are You a Pit Dweller?
I read a really good self-improvement book yesterday titled, Get Out of That Pit: Straight Talk about God's Deliverance by Beth Moore.
My wife and daughter attended Ms. Moore's seminar on the same subject in Tyler, TX just a couple of weeks ago and she (my wife) had started reading the book prior to that. They both enjoyed the seminar and it spawned a lot of interesting conversations on the way back to Dallas.
Moore's ministry primarily attracts women. My wife said there were just a handful of men in attendance out of roughly 4000. Still, the book isn't aimed at women; at least I didn't take it to be. It's aimed at anyone who wishes to lead a positive, productive life, happy and blessed life by getting out of our destructive "pits" that entrap us. There can be any number and types of "pits" in one's life and virtually everyone gets trapped in one or more of them somewhere along the line.
The key is to recognize the "pits" in life; get out of them before they overtake you and stay out of them. Problem is, we can't often do it on our own. You guessed it...it takes God and yes, we have to do our part. She shows you how!
It's not a preachy or condemning book. She uses her own experiences more often than not, and her writing style is down home Texas. She and her husband are just regular folks.
I recommend this book to anyone in a rut (or pit) they just can't seem to get out of.
