Ye Shall Know Them by their Conventions
I'm already nauseated by the machinations leading up to the big convention in Denver. Doubtless, there is more to come that will surely churn my innards. Still, it's going to be an interesting, if not educational week or two.
Like the idiom goes, "you are known by the friends you keep." Even the casual observer with just a bit of wit and wisdom, will be able to learn much about the presidential candidates and their parties, just by seeing how they conduct themselves and who participates at their respective conventions.
You don't have to have any political savvy to observe order or disarray, hypocrisy or authenticity, deceit or honesty. It shouldn't even take any special insight to make such observations. Just watch how the parties and participants conduct themselves.
Here's what I'll be looking for; hypocrisy on parade. Will dems be practicing their strict "green" implementations which they wish to impose on the rest of us? Will their "Carbon Footprints" be a topic of importance or will there be a record number of private jets, limousines and SUV's scattered about in Denver! Will tolerance of differing opinions and philosophies be the rule? Will the food and merchandise vendors only sell items which are deemed "green" and "sustainable" by the food nazi's and whacked out environmentalists?
Or will the duplistic rule of elitists be in play? You know the one..."do as I say, not as I do."
These are the things to look for. It's really not even necessary to subject yourself to the platitudinous speeches, unless you're a hopeless masochist. If you do plan punish yourself, make sure you have new batteries in your B.S. detector.
