Question of the Week!

From the American Thinker in a piece titled Time for a Gut Check, America:
America, do you want to give unchecked, unlimited, near total power to the left wing of the Democratic Party? Because, if you elect Barack Obama, that is what you will be doing.
Handing over complete power to the leftists is a frightful thing to imagine. Are you ready for rule by Pelosi, Reid and Obama?

ACORN: "Vote Early and Often"

Snifter clink to Lucianne.com for another good one!

"The political infants are dropping their G's"

Just for the record, I'm an equal opportunity basher. I've done my share of bashing republicans and I'll continue to bash whomever strays from the right side of the political debate. My most recent bashee is the very lovely, intelligent, talented, inspiring and thoughtful Peggy Noonan who has "slipped a Peg" according to the American Thinker, among other conservatives such as myself.

Sorry Ms. Noonan, I think I still love you, but I know for sure I love Sarah way more. Will it be possible to love both of you? I guess only time will tell.

In Jan LaRue's above linked piece at the American Thinker she exposes Ms. Noonan for having the inexplicable (maybe elitist?) negative opinions of Sarah Palin's verbalizations:
If Noonan is seriously promoting civility in American political discourse (which is fine and dandy), and not just book-peddling, how does she explain her superficial and boorish criticism of Palin's candidacy as "the symptom and expression of a new vulgarization in American politics."

Vulgarization? Surely Noonan isn't implying that Palin has campaigned in a coarse, gross, lewd or profane manner.

Unless Noonan's been preoccupied promoting her book on the Space Station, and missed the lefts' "vulgarization" of Palin and her family, which is surely among the worst in political history, why isn't she whacking their knuckles instead of Palin's?

Noonan's subtext isn't subtle: "What is it she stands for? After seven weeks we don't know." Even so, Noonan takes readers gently into Palin's good night.

Noonan begins with bland predictions about the election, and then reminds us of her Republican bonafides by declaring John McCain the winner of the last debate. She moves into her Palin scratch-off quite unobtrusively by taking bi-partisan swipes at McCain and Obama for "infantilizing" the election.

There's a cranky schoolmarm tone as Noonan brings Palin's grammatical gaffes into the mix, while continuing to give bi-partisan demerits to "John McCain" and "occasionally Mr. Obama, and of course, George W. Bush."

The political infants are "dropping their G's" ... No one can say mothers and fathers, it's all now the faux down-home, patronizing-infantilizing-moms and dads." You expect Ms. Noonan's ruler will reach G-less Joe Biden, who flunked a first-grade spelling bee the day before when he told a campaign crowd: "It's about what Barack said, ‘jobs-a three-letter word-j-o-b-s-jobs.'" But Joe escapes without so much as a glare. It's time to get scratchin' on Palin.

Noonan doesn't know "where Palin stands." So when Palin tells us every day for seven weeks that she's for protectin' the unborn; cuttin' taxes and spendin; savin' marriage; drillin' here; winnin' in Iraq; keepin' our military strong; kickin bad boys outta Washington, you betcha, Noonan is clueless.

She needs Palin to tell her if she's for protecting the unborn; cutting taxes and spending; saving marriage; drilling here; winning in Iraq; keeping our military strong; kicking bad boys out of Washington.

"Vulgarization" means that Palin sounds too much like common folks. So we're left concludin' that Noonan really prefers style over substance. "Pallin around with terrorists," and "I'm Joe Six-Pack." What's next, belching beer at a barbecue in Boise?

It's a good read; check out the entire piece. The bottom line is this: the pundants may be informative, well read and well written but you can only think for yourself when it comes to life changing decisions.

Many at the U.N. Hope for an Obama Win

As Gomer Pyle would proclaim, "Surprise, surprise, surprise!" The Washington Post is reporting that many at the U.N. hope for an Obama Win.

Well, duh!

"They came for Jessica..."

We've been out of town for the better part of the last two weeks in observance of the Feast of Tabernacles in the beautiful Hill Country of Texas, so I missed this very important piece by Roger Hedgecock at WorldNetDaily.

I repeat, this is a very important piece titled They came for Jessica, and I will not be silent. Here are a few paragraphs:
Jessica Hughes of Lufkin, Texas, former Marine, mother of three, answered her cell phone in the car, coming home from the emergency room. Her 9-year-old had suffered a mild concussion, but was OK.

The caller was a female Obama volunteer who asked if Jessica would support Obama for president.

Jessica replied, "No, I don't support him. Your guy is a socialist who voted four times in the state Senate to let little babies die in hospital closets; I think you should find something better to do with your time." Then Jessica hung up.

The next day, a man and a woman in suits showed up at the door of her home, identifying themselves as members of the Secret Service.

The Secret Service agents stated that the Obama campaign had complained of a death threat. They had quoted Jessica as saying, "I will never support Obama, and he will wind up dead on a hospital floor."

Jessica's husband had heard Jessica's side of the original phone call and verified the actual quote. To which the female agent replied, "Oh? Well why would she (the Obama volunteer) make that up?"

Jessica replied that the Obama volunteer was probably unhappy about what Jessica had said about her candidate. The female agent then said "That's right, you were rude!"

The male agent then displayed a file with Jessica's full name prominently printed on it and asked her how she felt about Obama. At this point, the former Marine told the agent "in no uncertain terms" (as she later recounted) that this was America and that the last time she checked, she was allowed to think whatever she wanted without being questioned by the Secret Service. And was being "rude" a federal crime now too?

The agents then admitted they had no tape of the conversation, just the quote from the Obama campaign.

Responding to Jessica's questions, the agents would not identify themselves by name, nor reveal the name of the Obama volunteer who had made the complaint. The agents did indicate that Jessica was not in a court of law yet, and that they were trying to not embarrass her "by going to all her family and neighbors."

To these implied threats, Jessica invited the agents to speak to whomever they wanted, and stated she would happily go to court since she had done nothing wrong.

Jessica asked the agents, "Look, someone calls me unsolicited on my cell phone to ask me to support their candidate, and I can't tell them why I don't?"

The Secret Service left Jessica that day, but she could not get the "visit" out of her mind.

Jessica wrote later, "The fact that the volunteer lied, the fact that the Secret Service came to my house to question me about my thoughts and feelings and threaten to embarrass me to my neighbors and go to court if I didn't cooperate is not the tragedy here.

"Because that girl on the phone doesn't have the pull to send the Secret Service to my home. Someone high in the ranks of a campaign working for a man who may be the next President of the United States of America felt comfortable bringing the force of the Federal Government to bear on a private citizen on nothing but the word of a partisan volunteer."

Please read the entire piece; I implore you to read it and pass it on.

Is this the land of the free and home of the brave or are we on the cusp of a tin-horn dictatorship. Stand up, America and don't let this happen!

Democide: When Govt Policies Kill

Who gets prosecuted when deaths occur because of bad laws and regulations? Prosecuted... are you kidding? Govt never even gets blamed for fatal screw ups.

The American Thinker has an illuminating piece titled Democide, which enumerated the failed policies and regulations that are responsible for the death of literally millions of people:
...We can add the CAFE standards, federal regulations dictating mileage rates for new cars. The only method of achieving the drastic new rates was by cutting automobile size and weight, increasing impact dangers to drivers and passengers. Studies by Harvard University and the Brookings Institution suggest that the numbers of ensuing deaths may exceed 120,000.

Then consider the mentally ill tossed out onto the streets unprepared and unsupervised as a money-saving measure beginning in the early 1970s. The aged veterans thrown out of VA hospitals today. The banning of halon, the single most effective fire retardant, with no suitable replacement. The children murdered while in the hands of state family-service agencies. (For an example of this type of atrocity, read this account of a young girl who escaped death by a whisker while agents of our government, paid for with our taxes, looked on.) AIDS policy, drug policy, immigration policy... we could fill a page with no more than the list itself. While the actual numbers remain hazy -- no one is keeping track, after all -- there can be no question that the death rate caused by government intervention is no less than horrifying.

Moving out into the world at large, we will examine the banning of DDT, implicated in the deaths of up to 30 million malaria victims -- most of them children. And the foreign policy initiatives so brightly informed by liberal idealism in such places as Vietnam, Cambodia, Nicaragua, Iran, and Zimbabwe. Now we're talking real numbers.

It will come as no news to readers of this site that liberal policies tend to fail. But some of them fail catastrophically. And when they do, they kill. They kill in large numbers. They have been killing for decades, and they will continue to kill for as long as we allow it.

The process is called democide, the murder of a populace by its own government. It can occur through malice, or indifference, or through incompetence. Almost always, it is instigated by an ideology -- fascism, Nazism, communism... and liberalism. According to Dr. R.J. Rummel, the sole scholar of democide (you'd think there would be droves of researchers working on such a critical topic -- but you'd be wrong), 262 million people have died by such means over the past century. Against that number, a half-million is a bagatelle, a drop in the bucket.

But it happened in our country. It happened in America.
Frightening, isn't it? And to think we may be at the point when more than half of us want more of these failed policies under the guise that Big Govt exists to provide for us.

My friend, M.E. (Stand in the Trenches,) rightly points out in my comment section that these numbers don't even include the 40 (or more) millions of abortions that have been performed since Roe v. Wade. The lives of our most vulnerable and innocent are being snuffed out in massive numbers year after year after year in the name of "women's health" and the "right to privacy" when in reality nothing short of infanticide has been and is taking place.

It's not time for more govt that creates, encourages and promotes the culture of death, it's time for govt be held to account for its destructive policies and regulations.

Be sure to read the entire piece and ask yourself if we can bear ever increasing govt programs and policies that kill.

A Question for Colin Powell...

Colin Powell has stated that his endorsement of Obama is not a matter of race. If that is so, does it mean that he endorses the most liberal (read socialist) senator that has ever been elected to the senate regardless of his race?

If there was any doubt that Powell was left of center, all you need to do is read this.

Personally, I take Colin Powell at his word because I've never thought him to be anything but a left of center RINO all along, if he was even that.

If you'll recall, years ago, he was ever so reluctant to come out and confess his true political leanings...I guess we can now see why.

It's pretty safe to say this makes Powell the mother of all RINO's.

CFP: "Obama Hints at Communist Presidency"

From the CanadaFreePress:
On Monday 13 October, Barack Obama was asked by an Ohio plumber: “Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn’t it?” Obama answered him with: “It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success too. My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody. I think when you spread the wealth around [AKA wealth redistribution], it’s good for everybody.” We have to imagine that Karl Marx would be extremely proud.
Proud indeed!

Farrakhan on Obama: 'The Messiah is absolutely speaking'

The anti-Semitic racist Louis Farrakhan blasphemes Jesus Christ, our Messiah in this video. Hat's off to WorldNetDaily for this video:

The Rush to International Socialism

In case you haven't noticed, there's a mad dash to socialize the financial markets. It's happening internationally as well. We may be approaching the point when we owe the "whacked out conspiracy theorists" a major apology. Check out this piece from The Scotsman.

Here's how it goes; Big Govt creates a problem and that problem grows and compounds itself due to continual Big Govt interference to rectify said problem which only exacerbates the problem to the point of insurmountability. Ultimately the problems fester exponentially to the point where Big Govt "is forced" to bail out (read, take over) any given institution or business.

Hence you have the modern incarnation of Big Govt induced socialism. They now own the primary financial institutions.

They've quietly bailed out the auto industry last week to the tune of $25 billion, a mere pittance compared to the Wall Street/Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac bailouts.

The airlines will probably be next unless oil prices remain low.

Watch out, America...Big Govt is on the prowl to take over, er, bail out big business, small business and anything else they will be able to control and confiscate because they've made it next to impossible to do business due to confiscatory taxation, over regulation and the omnipresent threat (or promise) of litigation from leftist organizations (can you say ACORN or ACLU or Green Peace?) and out of control regulatory agencies such as the EPA.

While Big Govt blames everybody but itself for the economic woes, no one is posing the possibility that the markets could be plummeting because of the abject fear that Obama may very well become the next president. If that happens, grab your assets as you watch the market bottom out. Then Big Govt would have to take over EVERYthing.

"Happy days" won't be here again if the dems win next month. It will be the beginning of the end for this once great country.

The brave new world is here and we let it happen!

Whopper of the Day

As reported in The New York Post:
WASHINGTON - Barack Obama's top political adviser said today Obama "didn't know the history" of unrepentant bomber William Ayers' activities in the violent Weather Underground movement when the candidate attended a political event at Ayers' home in 1995.

"When he went he certainly didn't know the history," chief Obama strategist David Axelrod told CNN - arguing for the first time since the story surfaced early this year that Obama was unaware of Ayers' past.

Will the Real Barack Hussein Obama please stand up?

Who is Barack Hussein Obama, anyway? O' that's right, we're not allowed to use his middle name. Mark Levin wittily calls him Barack Milhous Obama because the leftist media always emphasized Nixon's middle name because it sounded funny and they hated him. Quite a contrast when we dare not even mention Obama's middle name.

Townhall columnist Carol Platt Liebau wrote a good piece titled, Do You Know the Real Barack Obama? With only a short month left before Election Day, this information needs to get out there.

In her above linked column she asks some need to know questions. Did you know.....

Franklin Raines, the immediate past CEO of Fannie Mae – who has collected a $90 million golden parachute while driving Fannie into the ground – has advised Obama on housing issues.

Jim Johnson, yet another former Fannie Mae CEO, resigned from Obama’s vice presidential search team when it was revealed he had received a sweetheart home mortgage deal.

Despite serving in the Senate for only four years, Obama himself has been the second-largest recipient of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac largesse in the entire Congress, ahead even of former presidential candidate John Kerry, who’s spent two decades in the Senate?

Obama’s long-time political ally, radical group ACORN, played a key role in pressuring banks to offer loans to those who were unlikely to be able to pay them back. ACORN has taken credit for pressuring banks to accept undocumented income as a basis for offering loans, for offering loans without using credit scores, and for making 100% financed loans available to low-income people.
There's more stuff you need to know about Obama. Be sure to read the whole thing. I'm sure volumes could be written about this man who used to make people faint and now is rightly on the defensive. He needs to explain his life and continue to be on the defensive. The voters need to realize he's a radical leftist and he always has been. He has ties with Bill Ayers, the unapologetic domestic terrorist who bombed the Pentagon, but instead of answering the charges of his past and present associations, he is trying to change the subject. Can't really blame him, can you?
Does anyone think John McCain would get away with associating with unrepentant abortion clinic bombers?

U.S. Congressman Sam Johnson : One of the Good Guys!

Kudos to U.S. Congressman Sam Johnson, my congressman who voted NO on the massive pork laden bailout program that sadly passed today and has already been signed by President Bush. Too bad that ANY republicans voted for it. Now the dems will be able to blame them when it fails.

Too bad my Texas Senators didn't have the fortitude that Mr. Sam had today.
Your conservatism is appreciated and I'm pleased to have you as my U.S. Representative.

Peggy Noonan: "She killed"

Peggy Noonan on Gov. Sarah Palin's Debate Performance:

Thursday, October 02, 2008

I'm Embarassed by my Texas Senators

My senators, Senator John Cornyn and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison voted FOR the pork laden bailout (which is now called a "rescue" because of the odious connotations of the word "bailout.") Shame on them! Shame on ALL of them who took an oath to uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution. This bailout is anti-thetical to the U.S. Constitution!

Shame on them, too, for blaming Wall Street and the lenders for supposedly causing this calamity. Yes, there may have been abuses, but the problem lies squarely and soundly on Congress itself for forcing the lending institutions to make loans to those who with insufficient credit, lest they be accused of racism.

This is so typical. Big Govt creates a problem and then rushes in to "fix" it which only exacerbates the problem so they'll have to "fix" it again; throughout any given ordeal, Big Govt will blame any and everyone for the mess when the real problem lies with them.

Like Ronald Reagan so wisely said, "Govt is not the answer to the problem; Govt IS the problem."

If there was ever a time we needed a Ronald Reagan, it is now.

I can only hope my reasonable U.S. Representative Sam Johnson will rightfully step up to the plate with a "NO" vote tomorrow in the House. You can bet I'll be calling him to urge his non-support of this pork laden bailout, AKA the democrat designed "October Surprise."

Weathermen Terrorists Declare Support for Obama

If you're not listening to Mark Levin or Rush or reading WorldNetDaily, you missed this story.

That's right, some of Obama's most enthusiastic supporters are the terrorists who headed up the Weathermen terrorist organization from the 1960's and yes, they are still radical leftists who can't wait to have Obama in the White House.

DO read:
The names of four former top leaders of the Weathermen terrorist organization are listed as signatories on an online petition calling for an "independent grassroots effort" to help strengthen Sen. Barack Obama's campaign.

The petition was initiated by Progressives for Obama, an independent organization acting to ensure the Illinois senator's election.

Progressives includes among its ranks many former members of the 1960s radical organization Students for a Democratic Society, or SDS, from which the Weathermen splintered, as well as current and former members of other radical organizations, such as the Communist Party USA and the Black Radical Congress.

"We agree that Barack Obama is our best option for president in 2008, and that an independent grassroots effort can help strengthen his campaign," states the online petition. "It can also strengthen the mandate for his programs for stopping war, promoting global justice and securing our rights, liberties, and economic well-being."
By all means read the entire piece.

How can so many be so willfully blinded to Obama's dubious background?
