The only republicans speaking out are talk show hosts
So what's up with the spineless, emasculated republicans in congress who refuse to stand up against the haranguing democrats who decry the legitimate firing of eight U.S. Attorneys? And what's with the apologetic Bush administration?
The only republican politician (former) I heard today stating factually and unapologetically that the AG acted completely within the rules, was Sen. Fred Thompson while filling in for Paul Harvey. No wonder he's getting so much encouragement to run for president.
The conservative base is outraged and we can only thank God for Talk Radio to stand up against the disgusting goings on both sides of the isle. What would we do without Rush, Glenn Beck, Hannity and Dr. Levin?
The call by democrats for the resignation of the AG is mind numbing in light of the firing of all 93 U.S. Attorneys by Janet Reno, which was legal, but somewhat dubious in light of the fact that her boss was under investigation in Little Rock for Whitewater by one of the U.S. Attorneys he fired. Yet Mrs. Clinton has the gall to call for Gonzales' resignation. The stench of hypocrisy on the left is overwhelming and the lack of response on the right is mind boggling, especially when the ideology of the opposition is utterly vacuous and without merit.
What's even more galling is the total lack of republican "leadership." And just when you think President Bush should trash the "new tone," he embraces Ted Kennedy as a "great" legislator in regard to immigration and education. Puhhhhhleeeeeaase.......Kennedy has stabbed Bush in the back so many times...stab me once, shame on you; stab me twice, shame on me!
This would be the perfect time for the next president to show some amazing leadership by standing up and simply telling the world how hypocritical and how wrong the leftists are on every policy and every stand they take.
Fred Thompson may be the only one who has what it takes to pull this off. His hands may be somewhat tied with his contractual obligations with ABC as Paul Harvey's fill in, but that exposure in the upcoming weeks will likely work to his advantage.
Something has to happen if the republicans want to increase in numbers. They just have to know there are some mighty pissed off conservatives out here!
Here's Rush's take: Do Republicans Have Any Instinct for Survival?
