Are You Giving it 110%? UPDATED!!

If you're a thinker or somewhat astute at observing people and their mannerisms you've probably taken notice when someone talks about giving more than 100%. That's when my B.S. detector starts going off.

You know the drill...it's usually in some mundane meeting at work or some charity drive and the "call to arms" speaker du jour attempts to rally the troops by encouraging everyone to give 110% in order to meet some arbitrary goal (don't you just hate meetings?). No one in the room is going to break it to the so-called motivator that 100% is what it is...anything beyond 100% is unachievable, at least in this realm.

Today I received the quintessential answer to the "more than 100%" conundrum in an email from a trusted friend who runs the BrainSizzle blog. I didn't even have to Snopes it; it was that good!

Here's a little mathematical formula that might help you answer these
questions:

So, one can conclude with mathematical certainty that while Hard Work
and Knowledge will get you close, and Attitude will get you there, it's the
Bullshit and Ass kissing that will put you over the top.

There you have it! Beware of those who espouse impossibilities and while you're thinking about it, replace those batteries in your B.S. detector.
