The FOIA, the New Media and Able Danger
Mark Tapscott has a good piece at his blog about the importance of the Freedom of Information Act in conjunction with the independent media (read, New Media). Check it out!
Long before blogs, I told as many people who would listen, that the damage done to this country by the Clinton administration probably wouldn't be realized for years into the future. Some of that damage, no doubt, has already happened and more is being revealed daily by those involved in the breaking "Able Danger" probe brought to us by U.S. Congressman Curt Weldon and most recently Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer.
The significance of this story as it relates to the Clinton administration is directly proportionate to the silence of the MSM. However, it's a good thing that the New York Times has been covering Able Danger, though most other outlets continue to be silent.
This is an important story. Be sure to follow it. Those culpable of egregious security "blunders" must be held accountable. The political wagons are circling and everyone involved is in major CYA mode. Lt. Col. Shaffer and Congressman Weldon have to be under a great deal of pressure by very powerful politicos. Whistleblowers are always praised when they favor the left, but woe be unto the whistleblower who dares cross them. These guys (and their families) are in a dangerous position and they deserve our prayers.
We can't afford to let this story fade into oblivion...stay on top of it.
